I seriously cannot impress enough how much I appreciate explaining how Star Wars and George Lukas heavily borrowed from Dune, it’s something I feel like unless you grew up in the 60s you just do not know, it speaks to a big belief I have that the Star Wars trilogies just simply cannot work past the first three because Lukas wasn’t a writer, his skill was turning the pages to the movie screen
@ReligionOfSacrifice8 ай бұрын
"Dune" and "Star Wars" are indeed related and I read "Dune" the book as a child, but you miss reality to think "Dune" is the beginning of a thread. There you are wrong, for you forget the writer Edgar Rice Burroughs. I love "Star Wars" since a child. I hated "Dune" in 1984 with Sting. I love Sting as an musician. "Dune" in 2021 is good and I really liked it, but somehow the Anti-Christ (Mahdi) making it to Jerusalem is unlikely to surpass "Star Wars." It might be interesting in a SCI-FI film to see Islam's vision of peace, and so I am glad that "Dune" will have a part two, but I'm not holding my breath that it will make the top 100 favorite movies. As a child when I read the book I felt it pulled from Lawrence of Arabia and Islamic culture of the Caucasus or Bedouin tribes of Arabia, but I never got the idea of Atreides being America with capitalism waning. The movie in 2021 helped me see that connection. The Fremen call Paul the Mahdi is a dead give away that this whole thing is an Islamic end times vision. Hence the dead bodies that Paul sees piling up as he fulfills his place in history, by leaving America and being a Muslim as that is how the movie ends. Here is where these three related series have fallen so far and any you don't see aren't loved enough to mention. 20) Star Wars: the Empire Strikes Back (1980) 21) Star Wars: a New Hope (1977) 112) John Carter (2012) 148) Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (1983) 269) Dune (2021) To quote the author "I am showing you the superhero syndrome and your own participation in it." - Frank Herbert, speaking about "Dune." "A Princess of Mars," from 1912, inspired things like: Star Wars, Avatar, Indiana Jones, Superman, and Dune. "A Princess of Mars" even inspired Ray Douglas Bradbury. If you want to see a movie of it, see "John Carter" from 2012. But the main reason for me to watch Dune 2 is to see whether Zendaya Coleman surpasses female actresses I loved in the past. 10) Spiderman: No Way Home (2021) 96) The Greatest Showman (2017) 190) Spiderman: Far from Home (2019) 197) Spiderman: Homecoming (2017) 269) Dune (2021)
@maazahmed5068 ай бұрын
@@ReligionOfSacrifice I don't know if you're talking metaphors or not, either way, you've fundamentally misunderstood Dune and I think that has to do with your religious bias. Dune has nothing to do with Islam or any other religion. It makes a few references to certain cultures and religious beliefs here and there but it's its own thing.

You talking about W68 AMC… 8 story tall Imax screen !! When openHeimer came out, it was sold out for almost a month and a half two months!! When you hear filmed and 70 mm you won’t understand till you see it in an IMAX like!! to my understanding there’s only 19 other theatre that can do 70 mm out there!! Luckily, now there’s a lot of decent screen on maxes that can do “filmed in IMAX” !! Not the same thing as 70 mm, but still pretty cool to see a good screen IMAX!! Since it might be sold out for a while, I the first time might do the amc cinema in Times Square!! The Dolby Atmos surroundsound setup id mind blowing and it has the recliner seats!! ✊ 😎❤️🔥💙❤️🔥💙❤️🔥

When I think of Christopher Walken as an actor I think back to the movie “the dead zone“ based off of Stephen King novel. He was haunting, vulnerable, scary, and heartbreaking within that movie. If anybody ever doubts this man’s acting capabilities, they need to watch that movie. It may be an older movie, but just like a lot of older actors, they’re having fun in their later movies however, the movies they did earlier in their careers demonstrate how magnificent they are at their craft.

Really looking forward to the second movie. That being said, Charlie is exaggerating a bit when he says the second movie covers half of the first book. The first movie covers like 90% of the first book (literally this movie, if its scope is entirely the first book, covers like 60 pages). Further, Fayd is a fairly minor character in the story arch and is never brought up again. So, they’re hyping that moment because it’s one of the few action scenes in the book that translates well to a visual format. Really Fayd is just a brief foil to help demonstrate Paul’s transformation in a less theoretical setting. It could be argued that the Jamis fight in the first movie is much more important to the overall story of the entire series relative to Paul’s development. Paul doesn’t really grow due to the Fayd fight other than a signal to the universe that Paul is now in charge. So I’m really looking forward to see how Denis stretches that 10%. Totally pumped to see this movie.

THE MOVIE WAS AWESOME!!! I saw it yesterday at the premiere, I took my son with me, he's 13 now, he didn't watch the first and hadn't read the book so he didn't know the story but he became so engaged with everything, even today walking to his school he was asking me things, I think this is "his" Star Wars although he's also a huge star wars fan, I'll show him the first part today on tv. The only thing that I feel bad is that we never got the Space Guild navigators, although the really appear or described in Messiah, navigator Lynch's version is so sick for example, but I'm guessing Villenueve would be preparing their introduction in part 3?

If the secret character you mentioned is who I think it is, then I'm relieved she is still in the movie because I was concerned that her extremely weird and unhinged vibe would lead to her character being removed in this adaptation with someone else like Chani doing the things she did. The Dune story does get weirder and more exotic further down the line which is why I have such concerns that it wouldn't be well received by the modern audience.

they miscasted jon voight for the role though...i didn't get the vibe that he was smart but paranoid. he does say lines suggesting he was paranoid, but jon voight didnt relay that well.

Spoilers ! How did the luggage get on the back of the worms?😮

The director Denis Villeneuve said he solved the problem of showing how they dismouted worms. I would assume it would be the same, but in reverse. He said he intended to show it during Dune 3: Messiah.

Finally, a good blockbuster movie. And not some comic book garbage adaptation or Avatar-themed tech demo.
