I thought 57 minutes is too long, but Dr Okun is really interesting. The number of dimensions or aspects of Parkinson’s seem endless. This is this first I’ve heard of it affecting the immune system. And the idea that there might be a drug already approved that might be helpful on the shelf ,if only we knew. As was the case for one aids drug. Thanks Peter in Australia.

This was awesome!!! Thank you both for answering some of my questions and for the quick pace of the video and just all the really great information!! And I loved how you could break it down to each topic so you couldn't go back to just the one that you want to listen to again!! ❤❤❤👍👍👍😊

the pd care laser by symbyx looks promising, but at 2k that cuts out a lot of seniors on fixed income.the stanford medicine vibrating gloves look like there on the right track. plus zhittya genesis medicine might be on to something with nose spray to help create new blood cells in the brain called fgf-1.so going into next year should be promising year for pd lets pray

I have been very discouraged by the number of failed PK studies. Dr. Okun's perspective has restored hope for me. This presentation was fascinating, well planned. Dr. O's encouragement to explore and study latest developments is empowering and respectful of patient input into treatment. Thank you soooo much!

17:00 when you have a gene abnormality like LRRK2, or the GBA gene... 21:00 PD immune systems are different from norm. 26:50 rx shown not particular useful yet. 31:55 disrupt traffic through bbb by making temporary holes in bbb with focused ultrasound. 37:00 common in PD is waking middle of night unable to sleep due to beta oscillation in brain. 39:45 near infrared therapy up your nose. 42:13 we all know depression in the largest unmet hurdle in Parkinsons and Ketamine may be viable. 44:30 reset/rewire brain wiring with PCP LSD POT (cactus/mescaline), psilocybin in micro doses looks viable. 47:47 cannabis has proven viable for anxiety sleep pain. 49:55 antibody therapies looks very promising.

Dr David Sinclair (Harvard Uni) can turn back aging in mice by bypassing the genetic cumulative damage etc etc ... by activating the epigenetic system ... to get the system to fix itself ... is that an angle that can be used to reverse Parkinson ...? Sounds like a promising angle? ... less interesting but one I am curious about can a periodic 3-7 days fasting improve or slow PD down?

When he says need to think out of the box re non -dopermine therapies, what about that the Dopamine therapy is wrong in the first place especially when some patients are non- tremor dominant? I am a retired nurse who was told years ago to tell patient's the cells in the Pancreas have died and therefore we need to give you sulphonamide medication. Now sulphonamides - very rarely prescribed and the cells have not died but the body prevents the excessive glucose from entering the cells otherwise they would die. Hence now diabetes is reversible or better controlled with a good diet. I really feel we will find the similar with Levodopa therapies.

Yeah, no. No doctor ever told you to say that. I wouldn’t be surprised if you were an actual nurse, but I genuinely hope you aren’t.

You can talk yourself blue in the face about emerging therapies but unless you have a practitioner who cares more than just treating you with the so called "gold standard" drugs you;ll get nowhere. Most people with Parkinson's have Medicare and it just doesn't pay the few practitioners who take Medicare to do much more than the tried and true therapies. They all seem overworked and apathetic. I wish I could still work in my chosen profession because then I'd have private insurance. I noticed a big difference when I did. For instance I brought up DBS with my doc and was told that brain surgery would only be done if nothing else worked, I'm afraid that by the time nothing else works Ill be too far gone to enjoy life, or dementia will have set in.

From what I have been seeing, it looks like high intensity exercise (heart beat above 80 percent for 35 minutes) seems to be the best results. They are saying that weight training is also very important.
