If this movie had been made 20 years ago in 1993/94 it would never have been a theatrical release. Oh no it would have been one of those direct to video releases that you see on the rack at a K-Mart checkout selling as the "blue light special" for $5 or it would have been split up into three episodes and turned into one of those PBS kids show "specials" that serves as a pilot episode and then disappears after three or four episodes.

Honestly, this should have been this now. Seriously, this should have been some direct-to-dvd shit even today.

@@joyunicycle The end of august/beginning of september is known within the industry as the "dead season" for movies because its back to school time and peopel don;t have the free time they had over the summer, its where they dump everything that they know is going to fail. They probably had an empty spot on the release schedule so some executive dug this movie out of the vault and said "we can put this out, it doesn't matter if it fails becuase we won't lose anything on it".

Funny story. My friend and I found this POS on Netflix one day and we decided to watch it just to see what the fuss was all about. I was able to get through it by riffing on it MST3K style, but towards the end something snapped inside of me and I started having one of those laughing fits that starts off with a chuckle that builds into maniacal laughter and devolved into sobbing. No movie has ever done that to me ever or since.

Even the stupidest of parents wouldn't want to piss away 20 bucks on something they can just buy for much less on DVD, even if said movie had a big-name star like Elmo or Barney.
