Originally released in 1927 by Muede Lux Lewis, this is a proto Boogie Woogie song which strongly resembled rock and roll and is absolutely addictive. ELP sure showed their ability to have some fun with this masterpiece. The pianos, My Lord, horns, the bass line and the drums are a fabulous salute to the original. Super. Yeah, Man! Diggin' that ELP! Actually, it wasn't a shock. This was on Works Vol 2. On Volume 1, there is a complete Piano Concerto, orchestra and all. We were prepped for anything.

Dude you have to check out the progrock group Yes. Some of their best tunes are Roundabout, Close to the Edge, Yours is no Disgrace, And You and I, and Going for the One.

For some more boogie-woogie honky-tonk style ELP, check out "Are You Ready Eddie?" or "Benny The Bouncer". Goofy tunes that get slagged by most ELP snobs.

Strictly speaking, this wasn't really an ELP tune at all. Keith Emerson had released this as a solo single the year before and the B side, "Barrel House Shakedown" was also on this album together with Scott Joplin's "Maple Leaf Rag" and Greg Lake's solo single, "I Believe in Father Christmas." Both of the tunes on Keith's singles were Barrel House or Boogie-Woogie and this tune was written and recorded in 1927 by Meade Lux Lewis. Keith's single got to Number 21 in the charts. I liked it and thought that this was the path Emerson would take.
