EMG Metallica Challenge - To Live Is To Die

Thanks to Metallica for inspiration to play guitar and seek the perfect tone. I chose one of the most epic part of your production that has affected me. Guitar used this vid is upgraded Gibson Les Paul Custom with gold cover EMG 60/81 set. Amp is Roland JC-120 from 1983. I use Boss GT-10 for loops (double track). Looking forward to your next album...

This song feels like the story of my life and the lives of many others. All the emotion pain and struggle comes through. It is a masterpiece. I feel blessed I got my act together after so many wasted years and I can enjoy and cherish the fact I was given this life to live. I don't know why I was blessed with an existence, but I was. Grateful to enjoy the beauties of the world and this song is one of them.

The reason I cry at this song is cause this part he’s playing during the song, it makes me remember a lot of old memories that I wish I can go back too, and in my opinion, the song (To Live Is To Die) reminds me of emotions, cause it goes heavy, then deep, then back to heavy, so the song in general is probably the best song that actually makes you express your feelings if that makes sense

@HMD44METALLICA it's an explorer. by the inlays and the headstock i guess it's made by ken lawrence. this guy made a couple of explorers for james hetfield, and the one that you see in this vid is just like the newest one, with the sunrays inlay

Congratulations for your Pro Guitar Gear. You are right to say than Metallica (most James Hetfield) have a nice natural talent and the good taste to choose guitar stuffs. Their last 2 racks for the live & tour still contain the perfect gears and a beautiful guitars collection like your Ken Laurence Explorer. You have a chance to possess one. The Main rack contain a Furman Power conditioner, a Shure Wireless system, a TC G-Major 2, a DBX 1074 Quand Gate, 4 Mesa Triaxis (2 on drive, 2 on backup), 2 Voodoo Lab GCX Audio Switcher, 2 Mesa amp switcher, 1 Mesa Studio Preamp (like a Mark 2C+, the fondation of Tallica guitars sounds), 2 Mesa PowerAmp 2:90 simul-class with 6l6 & EL34 mix. The 2nd rack contain 2 Diezel VH4 head (one in drive, one in backup), a Line 6 X3 Pod Pro Rack (for his acoustic guitar only), a DBX Quad Gate, a Furman Power conditioner AND the Voodoo Lab Ground Control Pedalboard to control everything.. In Studio, it's a other thing. No limits. Theirs HQ, it's a paradise for professionals musicians. A very playground for bands. Me too, i am a big fan of Metallica & James more particularly. It's thanks to him, i play guitar since 25 years or my 14 years old but i begin play music with a drum since 28 years and thanks to Lars too. In this time 1989-1990, Lars had a big drum kit, a Tama 9 pieces and a great lot (8 + 2 hi-hat) of cymbals. I have the equivalent in my Home Studio. Tama 9 pieces, same shells size, drumhead & AHEAD LU drumstick. Same setup of cymbals with few more & few change. For my guitar gear, i'm inspired of the sound of James Hetfield. I work with a Mesa Dual Rectifier about special design 12ax7-B in the Preamp & EL34 Mesa STR-447 in the PowerAmp. The special tubes in the preamp give me 30% more gain, a better tone, low noise & low microphonic and for the EL34, it's a tubes better for the Metal & Metalcore musics than the 6L6. The EL34 give a focused bass, crunch mids, crystal-like high. More attack, puntch, sustain and a perfect match with the Rectifier Tubes (it's write in the back of amp) but all every great guitarist knows. I have a TC Nova System (small brother of the big G-System & all effect of the Nova come from of the G-System) and a Dunlop Crybaby Original Wah. My Main guitar is a Gibson Explorer w/ EMG 81/60 and a ESP/LTD M-1000FM Deluxe ( ESP M-II like) for my Lead guitar. Yes, i like the Metallica sound, old & modern and i use that for my own song. I'm songwriter. I record my-self the all instruments (guitars, drum, bass, sitar, effets, keyboard and more) for my song with Pro Tools 11. Thankz Metallica for 37 years of good musics (the last album is very good & the better since 25 years) and influenced a complete generation of musicians.
