If you’re looking for more inks, the fountain pen world is where to go! That’s where I first found this brand. The place most people in the US go online is Goulet Pens (not sure about the shipping costs internationally, but they’re amazing in states), but there are definitely similar shops that might be Canada based. Diamine, Pilot Iroshizuku, J. Herbin, Sailor… so many options! And you can usually get very inexpensive samplers of colors, too. I really loved the fish in this video! Cheers. ❤

I'm only just getting into the ink area, but from what I can tell the paper you use matters quite a bit. I know certain types of paper will show the dimensionality and shimmery-ness better than others. I forget what type of paper, but I remember that watercolor paper wasn't the best (not the worst either).

I love that you painted with these as I’ve been eyeballing them for so long to try and paint with but I have never painted with them or really seen them used for much other than calligraphy either. They really are such beautiful colors and the bottles and boxes are art on their own! I want to get a whole collection 😍

Its very interesting how you said you haven't really seen people using inks for painting. I took a module in university where for an entire week we had to use inks, so since then I thought it's a very common thing in art school. Now thinking about, I haven't really seen anyone using it since. There is definitely a different type of beauty to inks than watercolours. I love how they have a different sheen to it and hoe they handle. Great video and lovely paintings as usual. You're a huge inspiration to me and I always enjoy watching your art ☺️

The ink almost gives it a metallic look. Nice. All three came out very good. The cat came out better the second time. By the look in his eyes, i think he just saw the fish on the right. I actually have black i need to try out but these colors here are really cool.

I agree that the wash at the end added a lot and the emphasis on the eyes made it so perfect!

This was really fun to watch. I LOVE painting with ink 😍 it’s so fun and can be super graphic which i like. Scott M Fischer was the one who got me interested in it originally. Using acrylic ink makes it much like paint but just very thin and definitely will stain your brushes if that matters to you 😂 haha

Yup, it's layered technique. Like the designer markers. 20 layers wouldn't be too much. Really light. compositing up. You have all the time in the world to choose another shade darker with 40 layers.

Supposedly Ferris Wheel inks are lightfast, but most inks are not at all which is why people don't use ink more, i think. Most of the really fancy inks aren't, though. That and ink is more expensive than regular watercolor pallettes/pans.

How do you keep your crisp chiseled style using such a fuzzy medium. This is going to be interesting.
@emhuesart8 ай бұрын
Haha you'll have to wait to find out ☺️ Also, fuzzy is the perfect way to describe inks!
@mrwoodandmrtin8 ай бұрын
As well as fuzzy critters, I suppose you could do forces of nature. or implied action. Or even hard architecture on an atmospheric day. Maybe combine mediums for hard and soft lines. maybe pencil and watercolor? what about dropping a line on a wet page, waiting for it to fuzz out, then making it into something. Probably going to end up with lots of squirrels.

Fountain pen inks have properties like shading and sheen that make them look very interesting. I think they make for a great art medium, but unfortunately they are usually not water-resistant and not lightfast.

This is stunning work! Is there lightfast information for these inks? 🤔
@emhuesart7 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! ❤️ Lightfastness is one thing I'm not 100% sure about. I wish I brought it up in the video, but I completely forgot 😅 The inks used in this video are their fountain pen inks, so I don't believe they are very lightfast, they are also not waterproof (but I enjoy using this factor as part of the creation process). However, they do also carry a collection of opaque calligraphy inks- which are apparently lightfast! Their calligraphy inks are waterproof as well, which could be a pro or a con depending on how you want to work with them.

Do you usually inking your work? Or you doing your outline with any medium? I'm currently having trouble with my work if it's outlineless 😭 but that's the artstyle Im aiming for 😭😭😭 my art ALWAYS looks dull if its not with outline 😭 Hope you understand what I'm trying to say 😂❤️
@emhuesart7 ай бұрын
I don't do a lot of outlining! I don't know why, but my brain just doesn't work that way 😅 When I'm sketching I'll use line, but even then it's more shape design and less outlining. I think because I started by using traditional mediums like oil paint, I kind of trained my brain to see things in that way. Maybe give yourself little challenges where you try to not outline. Do something simple, like an apple, and only use patches of color or value to create the image 😊 It may be really challenging at first, but that just means that you are trying something new and learning! 💗 Thanks for watching!
