Pure genius - incredibly creative, respectful, nostalgic and most of all soulful... This woman single handedly converted me from a bored rock musician to a inspired soul/jazz musician. I lift my hat to Corrine.

I like this. Not my favorite cover by her but I don't think I've ever disliked anything to flow from her mouth. She did a cover and credited the artist. What's the issue? The nerve of some people on here comparing this to when white artists literally STOLE music from black artists and took all credit and profits from it. So ignorant. Clearly covering a song is not the same as stealing someone's song.

@vpaczkowski It's a very interesting subject... I had heard of "Since I've Been..." linked to "Never" (a Moby Grape's song-mainly because the some lines in the lyrics) and a little bit to Yardbirds' "New York City Blues" for sharing few notes... I found out a Dixon's "What In The World" covered by Rory Gallagher and that was outstanding, you know? I have to agree to you!!! I'm looking forward to listening to the original song... Thank you so much for your contribution...

@emiliamota The more you dig the more you find new stuff to dig. That's what the roots are all about. It's a foundation. The 1-4-5 12 bar blues is the roots and everybody has put their stamp from Robert Johnson to Eric Johnson.

@emiliamota The lyrics are from Led Zeppelin but the chord progression and feel of the song is definitely What in the World by Willie Dixon. I can't find a version on the tube but I heard it a long time ago and was blown away by the similarities to Since I've been loving you. The into is almost note for note. Put it this way it's closer than "Ghostbusters" is to "I want a new drug" and Huey Lewis won in court on that issue.

Yeah... it's a wonderfully imaginative version of BLUES in B minor with some guitar flash (the lz version) This version is all soul and no excess. Its the same progression B.B. King uses in "The Thrill is gone"

@vpaczkowski The roots from the music which I love are always an interesting subject to me... I have read a lot about W Dixon & LZ (even LZ's covers and influences) and I have never found out some reference to "Since I've Been..." as a Dixon' song... Could you send us your reference about that??? It would be much appreciated...
@cartert213 жыл бұрын
@vpaczkowski not trying to be wise but this is not a Willie Dixon song. It written by Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones and released in 1970 on the album Led Zepplin III. Corrine does an awsome job!!
@emiliamota13 жыл бұрын
@cartert2 I couldn't agree to you more... I have never heard something about this song as credited to Dixon... I would like to see the @vpaczkowski 's reference!!!

gannable you need to read my post again. I said it was not a Willie Dixon song but was written by Page, Plant and Jones, released in 1970 on Led Zepplin III. That means I was saying it was a Zepplin original.

yes-- it's risky covering LZ my fav band of that era-I was really liking this, but once the band came in quite loud ?? well, she should take a break instead of competin with the drums so to speak. I still like it a lot yet the acoustic is much better and suits her style IMO

@nthdegree126913 жыл бұрын
@cartert2 No its not Willie Dixon. They got sued by him for Bring it on Home and settled out of court with him. No, this is direct rip off of Mobey Grape "Never" watch?v=6tmgXG0bXXU You can clearly here that at least "part" of this song came from there and it was never credited. If this happened once or twice, fine, but they did this again and again, as in the case of Jake Holmes.

why do people get so butt hurt when it comes to artists covering other artists music? annoys the hell out of me! So what if it was originally by Willie Dixon, either way all 3 artists/bands cover it differently in their own way and feel it in their own way...if you don't like it just build a bridge, OR click off the video

This is a Willie Dixon song not Led Zeppelin. Know your roots. Led Zeppelin covered this along with a few other Willie Dixon tunes.
@etzeppy20911 жыл бұрын
Jumping on the Zeppelin pragmatism dog pile has become an Internet sport. There are legitimate examples but not this one. So many songs are based on a similar blues progression. Calling this a cover of "What In The World" is a stretch. Further, I can find no proof that WD wrote "What In The World" other than a comment by Rory Gallagher. No recordings are available and it's not on a wiki list of over 75 songs written by Dixon. Please provide evidence before telling others to "Know your roots".

So what if Zeppelin "borrowed" this song from someone else? Their version is far better, and has been far more successful, than the original. What... do you think Willie Dixon didn't "borrow" songs as well? People love to sound enlightened by accusing white rockers of ripping off black blues players. Everyone borrows from what came before. In the end, it's a matter of what sounds best.
