Dramatically flipping the phone open and shut fits sooo well with Sylvie

I had no idea that 80% of these were real brands. I thought it was just bad writing! Lol

I didn't even think that if you didn't know the brand it would just come off as weirdly written but you're so right 😭😭

One of the discount supermarkets in my country has a collab with Emily in Paris right now. You can buy Emily-branded cheeses, sausages, macarons - it's so funny. Pantene has just released an Emily line too. There's probably even more collabs out there. This plus the amount of product placements in the show itself almost makes it seem the main reason it exist is to sell stuff. Very cool video Lucy! (Also yes to the perfume video.)

About fashion being out of reach financially for Emily: When Sylvie said to Emily “it’s not something you’d find at H&M” about a scarf she was gifted, it reinforced my idea of that in real life clothes Emily wears would be nock offs of real brands. She would buy loads new cheap clothes and wear them once. And no one before this line ever commented on her clothes being cheap or expensive. So we kinda had a confirmation that she buys mass market, not even high end.

Literally never even thought of that. Of course they would make a show about a marketing executive just to market real-life brands to people. Genius idea, and very insidious.

Yeah, I'd definitely be interested in a video centered around perfume!

I think not giving Emily a Samsung makes perfect sense since she's American and from what I understand the majority of Americans think IPhone is a superior smartphone? But I can be wrong. What I do know is that here in Europe we don't really care that much about phone brands, and Samsung is quite popular, so it makes perfect sense to me even if it wasn't product placement, it seems... natural

Yes hah Picard is a frozen food only store, but it doesn’t look like that lol. They actually have some pretty interesting frozen items, and they taste pretty okay for microwaveable food

The "Bavazza" really sent me 😅🤣 It's clearly ripping off Lavazza but to any Italian speaker it will sound pretty odd, maybe Bavazza is just supposed to be a surname but *bava* means drool... is it a diss?! 😅

Omg. I am a science girlie, not a marketing girlie... but I never noticed ANY of these product placements nor did I know any of their clients were real companies. You completely opened up my mind to a new perspective. Great video idea, I feel like I learnt so much! PS I love your humour :)

thank you for confirming my marketing brain rot 😭 I do think that's wild though, to be watching that many ads and not noticing is lowkey bonkers in a way - there's obviously quite minimal disclosure and they're very... sponsored segments 😅 and thank you so much for watching and saying such nice things, I really appreciate it 💖

So, I'll freely admit I basically know nothing about american supermarkets, but PICARD is in fact a frozen product supermarket. There's a (free) membership system where you collect points and also get part of the "catalog" slightly cheaper (and PICARD is NOT cheap. It's good to great quality, with prices that match). I know a lot of people that go there for Christmas appetizers, for Christmas dessert, when there's a big get together with family, and only for those special occasions. But they also have started to cater to the 'busy yet wants to eat good food' employees as well in the last few years. However I have never seen a PICARD with freezer shelves. Everytime I've gone to one, it's all maze-like alleys filled with chest freezer boxes, white walls, and yeah, it does have an almost sterile look to me.

Yes on the serving tongs, but I did not see any available. Either tongs were ignored by Emily as a statement on her personality or maybe the lack of tongs is common in France? I don't watch Emily in Paris more due to a lack of time as opposed a lack of interest, but product placement in a show like this one seems to be a good fit and doesn't take you out of this world.

This show has gone completely rogue.. I felt like it would make just as much sense if I watched it in French. I do not speak French. 😅 "Bavazza" cracked me up. The most realistic scene of all of S04 was probably Emily sticking her hand in the candy bowl 🫣

I love really awkward bland placements in tv shows, my favourite was the vitamin water sponsorship in gossip girl where one of the characters goes…. “Can I get a revive” while sitting next to a tower of vitamin water bottles 😂 Edit: omg you just mentioned this IN the video 😂😂

@Lucy livin...Picard is a rather expensive supermarket. They only sell medium high quality frozen food (pre cooked or raw). They have small addresses all over France but usually only in the city center in expensive districts. Voilà :) hope this helps

Regarding Samsung partnerships, I think they paid for product placement for Olivia's video, but she's had Apple and Sony partnerships since and it seems like she's still with them. Sabrina's still with Samsung, though!

@@LucyLivinYT I think the only reason for disliking it is the original way script was written. The perspective was not that Emily is imperfect and figures it out, but rather that she knows better and everybody else is wrong for finding her anyway else than cute. It is ok to have flawed character, it is not ok to gaslight us that she isn’t. Beside that this is a great project for Lily. She can live in Paris, and now Rome. Wear anything she fancy. Thanks to the concept the product placement isn’t too cringy, but makes it commercially successful. I just hope that the script will keep Emily’s vulnerability now, and give her more integrity, and class, because this is what made the show watchable for me.

"and also has eyebrows" I spit out my drink joke aside the product placement for the samsung Z flip phone drives me crazy because i've had this phone and it's SUPER SHITTY !! Do not buy it !! They're on gen 5 or 6 and the inside screen keeps splitting even though they claimed they've fixed the issue ! This stupid phone cost me 1100 euros and I had to go back to my Sony after 6 months ! rant done but you get the thing.

Interesting! It is a show of constant advertising. Is this what the younger girls fall for? Is that why so many are either broke or in debt? They do not understand that this is not reality. Loved it, Lucy. As always you brought a keen critical eye to the party.

👀🌸🥐 Love that you're covering Emily in Paris. I love the show, even with the problematic characters and arcs. When you mentioned it in the last video I knew the man meant his comments towards Lucy in a friendly positive way. Zepeto was something I forgot happened. It was giving roblox dress to impress kids game. I think her co-workers were fake nice and Julien might've gave her a side-eye. Also, yes ideally tongs or scoop for candy, buttt I'm assuming there's handsantizer everywhere, like in real life, whether it's im Emily's bag or by the door. Emily hasn't been portayed as having unclean habits. Even when her shower broke in earlier season she had it fixed as soon as possible, and showers often. I'm sure her hands weren't dirty. I'd let it go because it's not sticky sticky candy. More tacky then anything else. Not like a chocolate fountain. Hopefully that makes people feel less icky. 😅
