Not a commentator generally but that has to be one of the best interviews I've ever seen. The trouble with Oh Brian ,is he has no idea of history , if you compare some of the events and action of a hundred years ago things are pretty tame in our time . The media of which he is part loves to exaggerate events , Britain has always had a problem with countries on the continent had he any knowledge of history he would know we get on well with Europe in our times . His whole act ,which is bs is to divert our attention from the immigration crisis ,and it is failing . Brexit was caused by immigration , you cram too many people of different cultural backgrounds together and the result is misery for all concerned ,not that he would know living in his select little English village , and I will put money on his brats attending private education Hypocrite in the first degree

How do we move forward and back to a society that works for everyone?
@danmayberry1185
@danmayberry1185 Жыл бұрын
To move back, we'd need to expose the Emperor's New Clothes and have the disenfranchised right admit they've been hoodwinked - not going to happen. To move forward, we'd need a master of conflict resolution at the helm to explain the reality of compromise, and deliver a suite of policies that leaves no-one 100% satisfied. Rory Stewart springs to mind.

Grassroots campaigning will be needed to secure a much more progressive approach to politics that will hopefully counter the reactionary populism we’ve seen so much of lately. A shift towards a greener future will also be essential to combat the rampant unsustainable greed that defines corporations that stop at nothing to generate profit. It will be slow, hard work but unless those two objectives are front and centre then we may as well give up.

Idea: can we all buy Jame's book for Xmas, give it to our parents to read to make them think outside what they're told by the British Press & the conservative party, make it no 1 on the book list for Xmas & longer term. Anyway we can get James further well known, raising his profile more with the British people, a bit like Martin Lewis has with Money Saving Expert? It seems to me James is as important right now to level the balance of press like Martin Lewis is to the cost of living crisis and financial advice to normal people, not the rich ...

Worst part is by his own words, I'd probably not have liked James even 10 years ago, having admitted he was quite the troublemaker, ignorant and enjoyment of chaos. I'm glad I only found him about 3 years ago because even as a Canadian, his words and personality are quite enjoyable and refreshing in today's society.

the only upside to tory's despicable attacks on democracy and great swathes of the population is witnessing the scales finally fall from folk's eyes as a result . 2010 - present day tory revealed to all the truly sickening colours that many believe have run through its veins since the 80s.

he says he dosnt know how we ended up here, but when we had an opportunity of a government which would renationalise the nhs, public transport and many essential service, a government whose leader had never claimed expenses, and would not see his position as one to make himself and his mates rich and let people die (in many cases increase the probability of people dying). and james was 100% against it and encouraged people to vote tory - he (and the rest of the media) are how we ended up here!

Give him he'll he is not a nice man , gives criticism, does not like taking it- insults abound and he has been upset by a comment. Says he usually deletes comments he has no time for or does not deem them worthy of a constructed reply'- absolutely disgusted by this self-righteous individual. He can only give feedback to comments he doesn't like by being rude,nasty, " I AM THE ONE IN THE RIGHT" replies! Fresh air? Don't think so.

Absolutely magnificent! My faith in humanity and genuine moral journalism is somewhat restored, still alive but waining. This proves real journalists still are available to do the job of telling the people of the uk actual truth and facts. Brilliant!

I am a regular listener to Times Radio. Strange though it may seem, I haven't heard a single mention, let alone a review, of James O'Brien's book. How strange is that?

Update: JO'B's book got a mention on Ruppert Murdoch's Times Radio yesterday (21st Dec 2023). His book, this week's #2 best selling political book on Amazon, got a 5-second passing mention on a Times Radio segment on best-selling political books for Christmas. Other less popular books got longer reviews and more fulsome treatment. I wonder if that had anything to do with the fact that 'How They Broke Britain' includes a full chapter on Murdoch's contribution to the ongoing shambles we find ourselves in. 🤔

Well Two iconic individuals who have dared to rally against the establishment! I L think both are unique in their individual styles and whilst I haven’t bought read or will, but there is a part of me thinks maybe! It was so very interesting is when he’s talking you don’t have to fact check it, you know it’s on point! Great interviewer choice as Emily knows so much and always delivers no matter what she is doing!

As a latecomer to the political debate its encouraging to here that some people are able to hold these ner do wells to account. Politicians generally in this day and age acknowledge that political office is a short term step to greater rewards outside of politics.....i truely believe that now......and i think ots across the whole political sphere. I will be buying james book and anticipating the various disclosures.
