You know what I get Victoria to a certain degree. At the time I think she did love David but she was in a difficult position. Conrad used their son to force her compliance. But the way she went after Emily is what made her the villain. Emily could have been her greatest asset but she made her an enemy

Exactly my opinion. That she sacrificed David was bad enough but she had just chosen her son. However going after that innocent child was just a no-go. I mean they could have influenced little Amanda in any other way. By the media lies she was obviously consuming about her father or by taking her in and feeding her with the lies about her father themselves. But making sure that she was thrown into some kind of infernal childcare was just evil and inexcuseable. So it´s totally her fault that Amanda turned out the way she did when she was eighteen.

@ exactly. A mother choosing her child over a man is the right answer but to then go after that man’s child to make sure she suffers that’s just unforgivable

@@susanpark3451 By the way if she really loved the man so much every other woman would have took care of his child because they remembered him in her. I still cannot understand why either Victoria or Conrad were open to the idea. Even if it was to take control over Amanda Clarke´s destiny. I mean they could have imagine that an adult Amanda Clarke could have become a problem for their narrative.

@ Victoria was too selfish a person to do that. She loved David sure but that love only extended to him. Her and Conrad were so sure of themselves I don’t think they could imagine anyone would ever get one over on them. That was their downfall.

@@susanpark3451 Yeah it´s the structure of their character and the morale tale we see in the original. Especially the french arrogance of the Napoleon era is captured very well in the original story. So it was not at all a bad idea to put the story in modern times at the Hamptons.
