Bikepacking Iceland Part 3 - Iceland's Interior.. aka the big empty!

Everything you ever wanted to know about bikepacking Iceland is revealed in this final episode. From the water crossings and to the route. We tackled one of the hardest bikepacking routes we could have mapped across Iceland.
After the trip, we had 5 days to tour Iceland so we rented an Isak 4x4 and toured around Iceland by vehicle and foot. Landmannalaugar and Thórsmörk were on the top of our list and we crossed the infamous Krossa river 🤪

Glad you enjoyed your trip here in Iceland. I am lucky enough to have been born and bred here and into a family who thinks it is more fun to explore the highlands in Icelandrather than chasing the sun to Spain every year. As a result there are very few areas of Iceland I have not yet visited with the only exception of the southern part of the Westfjords. I have travelled in Iceland in a Super-Jeep...by the way, mine is way cooler than that Defender and the crew vehicles you had... ;) Do overlanding and snow wheeling in winter in the highlands. Three years ago I took up cycle touring as a way to rediscover my island in a different way and to lead a healthier lifestyle and have been touring various parts of Iceland. Next summer I am planning on the Westfjords. Have to say though that I like my comforts while at camp so I travel quite a bit more loaded than you guys... Anyway, thanks for the videos, hope to see more from you, and hopefully more from Iceland. Maybe consider a winter trip next and immerse yourself into overlanding and snow wheeling in a 4x4 superjeep?... :) Just don't go solo, have someone with you that has experience. A winter storm is no picnic here.... :)

After a few bikepack trips I run with a rohloff hub and a beltdrive, and on my 2750km Iceland trip I didn't had any maintance on my drive train. only drawback is 1kilo extra on the bike and the diverence between the gears is a lot every gear change its 11%

Thanks Barry. Funny enough, I just grabbed a prototype I had in an old box that had some extra cushion on it. My normal race saddle would have worked but not as comfy with the extra weight as you know 😜
