This week I am sharing my two year wear and tear review of my Chanel classic flap medium caviar bag! I’ve only worn this bag a limited amount of times over the years, but something unfortunate happened just a week before filming this video that was not my fault. I’ll be sharing what’s inside my Chanel M/L Classic Flap along with the story about how my bag got damaged, and the current process and timeframe it will take to get my bag repaired by Chanel during a pandemic. UPDATE! I finally got my bag back after 3 months! My SA didn't charge me for the repair which is amazing, and I'm so glad I finally have it back before the year ends

I bought a vintage chanel classic flap from the 1980s and the stitching is still really good..buying preloved means i dont have to feel guilty if i don't baby it (cos it already has minor wear) and the price is way way cheaper too (got it for $2400 in japan). Preloved is definitely the way to go!

Happened to my classic flap too. I got it fixed since it was vintage from my mom. If I had purchased it, I would have returned it for sure. For that price I should be able to throw it off a mountain and have it survive lol

Commenting early into the video because I am ALSO a hoodie and leggings girl but let me tell you, I think this particular Chanel bag can make any outfit look THAT MUCH BETTER! I wear my Chanel classic flap with every outfit and it really looks great. You paid for the bag, might as well rock it. That's what it's for! ☺️

This happened to my jumbo flap! I bought it in 2016 and have only used it about 10 times and noticed the loose stitch. Took it to the boutique and they said it’s common with overall use. It was complimentary my SA said 8-12 weeks. It came back after 2 months. They also replaced both stitches!!!!

Love that!! There is definitely a delay with mine due to COVID but I'm hoping I'll get it back in the new year!!

I’m sorry to hear that has happened. I believe the craftsmanship is lacking due to the fact that it’s in high demand, so they need to produce more. It’s ok. The bag will be taken care of. Let us know what happens.❤️

I share the exact same issue with my small classic flap! I use the bag very carefully trying not to over stuff it and only use it few times a year. One night after i got home i found the stitch in the middle are came off. So shocked and i sent it for repair at Chanel. They didnt charge anything and you can’t tell repair area by eyes but u can feel the re-do are when touching the spot.... so disappointed and shocked

I'm so sorry you experienced that with your bag!! It's never the same when you know your bag has gone in for repair, but I hope the bag isn't giving you any other issues!

I am so sorry that happened to your bag. I have the same bag; black caviar with silver hardware that I bought in 2018, and would be so upset if it happened to mine. But fortunately it is a very minor problem, that can be easily fixed. But the time to get it fixed and returned is very disappointing - three months for such a simple fix is extreme. I know they send the bags to Paris, but there should be a more expedient way to do such simple work. But on the bright side, once you get it back from repairs you will once again have a pristine bag, and the price you paid is much less for what they retail for now. That $5300 bag (which I know is crazy expensive!) now retails for $6500 (which is stark-raving-mad-expensive). Fingers crossed that you get your beautiful bag back quickly!

Thank you for your comment! I am glad it is very minor but I hope there is no additional charge (I'm scared to know how much they would even charge for a stitch so we'll see). The SA in the boutique told me it could take between 3-6 months which is ridiculous, but fingers crossed it takes much less time. I can't believe the bag went up to $6,500!! And there's still another potential increase in November!!

Emily Dao yes, the prices are just insane now. With tax a medium classic flap is over 7k, and I just can’t go there now. That price point is madness.

Glad you got you bag back!!! I have the same bag in the same color and hardware combo in small and I didn't have any issues... sorry to hear. I did notice the stitching on the other bag was loose so I didn't buy that one.

What made you choose the silver hardware vs the gold? I wear gold jewelry all the time like you but with the crazy price increases, it's easier to get silver and black vs gold and black.

I used to gravitate to silver hardware because it felt "younger" if that makes sense? I do love gold jewelry with my skintone but realized that a little too late after purchasing this a couple years ago🙈

Wth! This is for this reason that I will never buy brand new Chanel bags because Mainly i cant afford it but unless I win the lottery or get rich or it’s gifted to me it won’t happen any time soon. The quality is just NOT there! Using it 10 times. And that stitch got undone! And all my bags are preloved and very used and I have zero stitch undone. You should take the sticker off because leaving it on the glue from the sticker will damage and tarnish the hardware much faster than if you were to take it off

Beautiful bags unfortunately the quality is not there anymore, coincidentally I bought my medium flap on Christmas 2018, and 3 months ago I pulled out just to admire it lol cause I haven’t gone out much, and noticed that the button closure from the second flap was cracked, I immediately contacted my SA because I had used the bag literally twice if that. I took the bag in July 17 and still haven’t gotten it back 😭

Melissa, Chanel will replace the button for you free of charge if you are on good terms with the SA. Else it's about 100 to replace

Oh its really sad to hear that there is a loose thread. Its a nice bag. For the price you paid one will not really expect that to happen. I am buying Chanel vintage bags as they seem to be more structured and of a better craftsmanship. My very first Chanel vintage is arriving soon and I can't wait to see if it looks like the pictures🌹🤞

Depending on the batches of classic flaps, the stitches for the double flap differ. Some have a thick stitch and some have a thin flat stitch. The ones with a thin flat stitch tend to unravel more.
