As I am born and bred in Canada I know all about the Canadian tuxedo! That certainly was an outfit I had on repeat back in the day when I used to live there. I haven't really explored that option in recent years but your video has inspired me to try. Thanks Emily! Tiina xx

Great video very useful tips, luv how you said no hard and fast rules, so many influencers are so insistent about dressing to the rules which annoys me, you have such a natural approach ❤

I loved how you used the denim jackets you already had and made it work, instead of getting a sponsorship and showing tons of different jackets that somebody sent you. So many KZbinrs do that and then it's totally unrelatable to us normal people who have only a couple of options in our wardrobes and don't just want to go buy a bunch of new stuff. (Sorry for the rant😬). Really love the genuineness of this video!

This was great! Can you do a similar video on belts? I love them but feel like I’m probably making myself look dated :(

Glad you enjoyed it! I’m personally slowly warming up to belts myself, I have never really liked wearing them, but only recently started to give them a go again. So a belt video is definitely something I can do! X

Excellent video, Emily. My favourite denim jacket is black, 100% cotton, so soft now from years of wear. It is perfect for my bright winter colour palette. I also have two others, one in a dark indigo and a mid blue one. I would like a more cropped fitted one in white, for spring, to wear over dresses or skirts (sadly, it's too hot to wear one here in Western Australia in the summer). I really loved the examples you created for yourself, especially the oversized dress with your oversized jacket. Thank you 🖤💙🤍

I love denim jackets! But where I'm at, the weather is really hot and humid, I don't have much chance to wear them. I like your style - simple yet classy.

Fantastic video, Elizabeth! You are a styling inspiration. Would love if you can provide the name brands of all your thrifted denim jackets in your collection. Could you also do a video on how you choose sizing in your denim jackets? Also discussing weights, preferred blend or material. Everything looks great on you.

The good ol' denium jacket. Since they have been around since day dot, I'd say I've never ever had a time when one wasn't in my closet. The only restriction I've ever given myself is that I try to avoid wearing denium, jacket or jeans all summer. Depending on ones personality, there is no right or wrong with a denium jacket. A denium jacket is rule free. 😂🎉🎉🎉

I'm short and I know I wear my tops and jackets too long. I envy women who can wear short jackets and tops, but I just feel awkward if my butt shows. If people are walking behind me I just don't like the feeling of them looking at my butt. Sounds crazy....I know!!!!
@EmilyElizabethMay9 ай бұрын
Doesn’t sound crazy at all! I think that’s quite common to feel that way. Wear what makes you feel most comfortable, cause you’ll look the best when you feel comfortable! 🩷

I used to feel that way, i kind of still do... with moderation. I noticed as i moved to straight and wide leg bottoms, i don't mind so much, as well as those same silhouettes in skirts. Skinny jeans, which are stretch and very fitted were the most "i don't want people looking at my back" for me. I had lots of long jackets and tops being worn in that era.

Something that you didn't mention in your video is the shape of a person's face, relative to the shape of the person's body, and how that creates an additional but subtle consideration in what to wear. I'm very skinny and noticeably taller than the average woman, but I'm also very flat-chested like a preteen girl, so I look very long and lean from the neck down. However, I have a big head and a round face with prominent cheekbones that are strangely disproportional to my stick-figure body, so a lot of outfit choices that work for you will look slightly wrong on me because my face looks so full, compared to yours. In general, I can wear everything that you wear and still look good, but sometimes I have to make an extra effort to choose clothes that are more form-fitting on top to create some contrast to my enormous moon face. This is especially true for me if I'm going to be photographed from the waist up and not seen in person. Because my face is so wide, I tend to look more balanced in above-the-waist photos if my blouse or the top half of my dress is tight. If I'm photographed above the waist in a loose-fitting shirt or dress, it makes my round face look even bigger than it is. I also have to choose jewelry and sunglasses very carefully because certain shapes of earrings and necklaces and glasses attract the viewer's eye vertically, which is slimming for my face, while other shapes attract the viewer's eye horizontally, which makes my head look wider than it is. So ultimately, as you've said in some of your videos, ideal style is about finding the right kind of balance for yourself, and the rules that apply to one person may not apply to someone else. Sometimes you have to make and break rules, based on what you see in the mirror, as no two people are the same. If reincarnation is real, I want to come back as a woman with an oval face, because then I can wear any kind of jewelry and sunglasses I want, and I'll never look bad in a photo from the neck up! 😀
