I have lifted you up in prayer a few times these past few months just because you came to mind and I felt you needed it. So awesome to hear you are going to be a mom. I am almost 67 and had my first baby at 40 and second at 43. They are the most amazing part of my life. They grow and change and you will change with them. Just treasure all of it because it never stays the same.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I’m so sorry that you had a hard but glad you feel better now. It’s ok to cry. We women and our doctors should talk more about our feelings through pregnancy. I was so fearful during my pregnancies (that was a long time ago) that I could not enjoy it and I was afraid to tell my feelings. It’s good you could tell your family. Praying for you and your blessed little boy. I always enjoy your videos.

I remember many years ago when I was pregnant with my third child, I experienced my first panic attack in the middle of the night. I was sound asleep and it woke me up. My OB told me that it’s not uncommon. There are so many things about pregnancy no one ever tells you. Like during my second pregnancy I had so many dental problems and couldn’t take pain medication to help. I’m so glad you are doing better. Sending love and light your way for continued healing. 😁🥰🙏🏻

So relatable, and thank you for sharing and bringing light to this topic. You're not alone. I too looked at pregnancy thru rose coloured glasses. I too entered a depression, with anxiety about the surprise ahead of schedule, impact on my career, body, health, and so much more. Now I have a healthy and happy three year old, and so many positive feelings and memories since. You too will, it will come ❤️. Congratulations on the new home, and all the best during this journey. Edited to add I hope you also feel proud for prioritizing yourself and your family. I often have to remind myself to take care of myself. As a mom, it's easy for us to sacrifice ourselves for our children. But, a healthy mom is the best thing out children need.

Hi Em, Congratulations on your wonderful news,so happy for you. I understand completely about your anxiety having suffered on and off all my life, usually in the middle of the night. I have been to many professionals for help but the best help I’ve ever received is from Paul David’s book “ At last a life”. It is basically about Acceptance ,not fearing, and letting it take its course because it will pass. Wishing you a very happy Christmas, stay safe and come back when you are ready. Xx

I feel for you and can relate! I am due in March 2022 and have also been struggling with 24/7 morning sickness. I was incredibly down for the first 3 months, sad that I had to quit my job that I love as I couldn’t get out of bed for more than 2 hours a day, and also in shock that I was pregnant at all. I had not planned on having another baby. Now that I’m about 6 months in and spent several months in bed feeling sorry for myself I have turned a corner mentally and am finally looking forward to the baby and am grateful for the gift of a baby that not everyone can have. Having people to talk to is so important! I’m glad you reached out and got help. Hang in there!

Congrats! I'm glad that you're doing better. I have a friend who always has difficult pregnancies and I'm battling a chronic illness that causes severe pain (including my back) that doesn't reduce with painkillers, so I'm glad you've gotten help with both areas. And as someone with an illness that also can be passed down to children I just want to encourage you that even though you initially wanted this to happen the other way, you've done nothing to feel guilty about. You're giving that precious one a chance to live in a wonderful home with parents who love him, and that's the best thing you could have ever done for him.

I didn’t want to take medication but then I realized if it helps my life to be healthy and happy then I should first for myself and then for my family. Wishing you the best, and like myself sharing your story will help more people than I could ever reach. Blessings, prayers and love 🇺🇸🙏💛

I definitely agree with you about not many people talking about the mental health challenges during. I always felt guilty that I didn't enjoy my pregnancies because of being quite sick at the beginning and just being in constant discomfort or pain and of course the anxiety of growing and birthing a living being. And that is a long time to be feeling all of those things, so of course it takes a toll on our mental health! It's okay to enjoy the pregnancy and it's also okay to have a hard time enjoying it! Good for you for knowing yourself and how to take care of yourself!

I’m so happy that you well. I had 6 months of 24 hours a day sickness the first time and 5 1/2 months the second time. I had to visit the dentist and get a toothpaste to strengthen my tooth enamel after all the acid washes. Best self care decision as a young mother. It does get better. Both of my boys have Crohn’s disease. I understand feeling responsible for that. They are healthy right now and know how to manage their condition so I remind myself that they were created exactly right for their purpose. No mistake was made. They are as they were meant to be. Your baby is too.

Many pregnancies are not a «I am glowing on my pink fluffy cloud of bliss» pregnancy 😔 A very similar thing happened to a dear friend of mine where she was sooo miserable, in pain and ill that often she couldn’t even be excited about it anymore while all around everyone is only saying «congrats! so wonderful! you must be so happy!» She felt so guilty because she felt so ill and unhappy. It sucks. It just sucks. For my friend things much improved (mental)health wise about half way through. I hope your pregnancy will also become easier so you can start to really enjoy it too ❤️ Silly how often women have these not so rosy things going on during pregnancy and yet it is not often spoken about 🤔 You are definately not alone! 🤗 Good luck! ❤️

Having a baby seems to come with a prescribed set of socially acceptable responses to the whole receiving of the news, telling others, baby shower, getting ready, etc. But there is no correct response to any given part of having a baby. I got hit hard with depression during my pregnancy. And we had to move, too! Just remember that at some point, you will be unpacked, you will get your body back, you WILL feel better, lighter, and you’re not even close to alone in this experience. Congratulations to you and your partner!

Thank you for sharing your story Emily. It seems that you suffer more from anxiety disorder than depression. When you are depressed you feel „nothing”, when you are nervous - you feel too much. I live in Poland, far away from You but I had similar problem after birth of my second child. I had so strong nervous tention that my nervous system „swithed off” and I felt as I was still in a dream, everything was so foggy and away. Fortunately, I met good psychiatrist who helped me, literally, still live and rise my two beautiful kids:) mental disorders are normal ilnesses, like diabetes or hypertension and we shouldnt feel any shame of it! I also talked about the situation to my many friends, treating it first like auto therapy but some of them turned to me for help, as they had the same problem during and after pregnancy. Sharing our stories can really help us and others!

All of the hugs for you. Pregnancy can bring so many different emotions, try to go with the flow and not get too wrapped up in any one emotion or feeling and just be gentle on yourself. It can be a huge rollercoaster. Don't beat yourself up you are clearly a very gentle and sweet person and you can only do your best. Just be kind with yourself and it will all come together in the end x

I have a 10 month old baby, and she is the most wonderful thing ever that has happened to me, but the transition to become a mom/parent is also one of the hardest things I have done so far. Sweet Emily, my prayers are with you and your miraculous baby. I had 2 IVF boys 2 years apart ( which technically makes them twins) and then a surprising naturally conceived baby girl and I get it. Pregnancy is an anxious place to be, which sort of makes sense from an evolutionary standpoint. I spent 3x9 months an anxious pregnant woman. It’s very hormonal just like your tears, but also…We humans wouldn’t make it as a species if our pregnant mums were too laid back and not taking extra care. But also, as a cancer physician myself, I can tell you that there should be no guilt for you about this unexpected pregnancy. I believe it was meant to be, and by the time your little bambino is old enough to even think about cancer there will be a myriad of preventative and treatment options if they are needed. Have faith and be bold and brave. Even us mums with anxiety make the most excellent parents. May your little Bub be healthy and happy and I really hope you can start enjoying your pregnancy some parts of some days!

First of all, congrats on the new baby. I don't want to pretend to know what you've gone thru, but I just want to share that all of us first time moms worry, we worry because we love, we worry because we want the best. My kid was born when I was over 40 and came in early and spent 13 days in the ICU and i have felt gulty about this for years. Then I started looking at her, like really looking (she's 6 now) and there is nothing she can't do. She's got her quirks and her life was rocky for a couple of years, but I now think we are given these babies for a reason. I am not a strong mom, but I decided to believe more in her and all of her capabilities and curiosity and hunger for the world, instead of leaning into my fears. This was a process mom, but you'll find a place of peace, one that is only shared between your baby and you. By the way, so happy I found your channel. Until we hear from you again...
