I’m taking you along on my patio makeover today! This one has been a month or so in the making and given us back such a lovely outdoor space to enjoy this summer. We finally created the diamond trellis of my dreams, got some new furniture, thrifted some decor, and swapped out some plants. I’ll share some tips I’ve learned about pruning plants as well as picking plants that are beautiful and low maintenance. I so hope you enjoy!

Hello, FYI cut the thorns from the Bougainvilleas branches. They will not grow back! Game changer!!! The Star Jasmine are fast growing especially the 2nd year. The more you trim the more new shoots come out. I personally stopped trimming them b/c of the milky sap. However, come April the intoxicating citrusy scent is worth it and the blooms are breathtaking! I have one that’s over 20 years; it’s over 12 feet wide and it’s a show stopper especially during its blooming season, March. I live in garden zone 10a. It may be different for your zone.

Rotting chair- scrape out rot and use something like bondo to strengthen and fill.

Hi beautiful Emily you are amazing. Two little boys and a baby boy and you keep so busy. My husbamd took a few days off and once today he said don' t you ever sit down. I dont know a lot about pruning though...maybe you can teach those of us who dont know. One of our friends died unexpectedly and he had given us a piece of jade. It is huge now. We named the plant Chuck after him. I love the finished look ...its beautiful. O love the new swing and the free chair. I am sure your husband know a fix for the chair. Even if you have to wrap twine around the bad part and then make or buy a pretty cushion for it. It is way too nice to throw out. The patio at night is magical. My neighbor just put in a garden shop within walking distance from us. Her plave is magical too. She has beautiful one of a kind items. Emily, your boys are so adorable. The baby has grown so much. I dont know if you did a vegetable garden but ours has failed for two years. I said i was not helping this year, but guess who does most of it..Me 😅. We are going to be able to share tomatoes next week. We have these little sun gold ones..they are like candy. We will have green beans, zucchini, peppers,and hopefully pumpkins and gourds. I can not wait to see what you do with your family room. I love to change things up. I can not keep my nails nice. Girls who dig in dirt can not have pretty nails , but we have fun dont we? I love that the boys asked you that after seeing your knees....precious memories. Love you and your channel. ❤❤❤❤

There is a product that you put on wood to stop the rot and strengthen the wood. You can easily replace those canes, they start straight then you soak them in warm water until very pliable maybe not a beginner job but plenty KZbin’s on it. New sub from Australia here. Hi!

Hi from central FL😊 Ya, I too have fought with bougainvillea 😢 mine is on a backyard arched arbor, away from the house & is gorgeous! Thought: you can spray the pea gravel with a glue-type product to keep it in place. 😊 we recently got a small flame thrower gadget to deal with weeds in pavers, etc--- Gamechanger!!!!

Sorry I'm late seeing this video, the past 10 days have been a boy crazy🤪lol Yeah the bougainvillea is a beautiful plant but more for a tree line or along a fence or something like that. Star of Jasmine is a good climber for a trellis. One of my favorites to plant on a smaller trellis is the Mandevilla, it has beautiful deep red flowers but its not as big or it don't grow as l large as the star of jasmine. I think the jasmine will be really beautiful there on your trellis! Where I lived in TN I had a large covered front porch with a swing, my fav place to have coffee on the fall mornings, looking out across the beautiful painted mountains across from us. I've always loved a porch swing, my old granny had one on each end of her big old farmhouse porch & i was there every day playing on those swings 1😊 My daughter lived right behind us, in TN, and she had the egg swing & another one similar to this one, both were super comfy, i know you guys will enjoy it!😊 I would keep the chair for sure, probably spray paint it & find some cushions for it. You could maybe get one A bit over sized & it might help cover that one place on it. Its really not a bad little chair. Emily i think your lanai turned out perfect, its really a beautiful space! I'm thankful God prunes me, cuts away the "branches" in my life so that there is more room for growth🙌🏻 Thanks so much for sharing😊
