Stunning. To even attempt this song, you need to have confidence in the mastery of your voice across a large range from alto through soprano, and you nailed it. Your voice has such strength, but combined with warmth and a mellow tone -- never shrill or brassy. Your vocal style continues to grow and mature. BTW/Many people in your audience in the U.S., of a certain age, will associate this song with the 1960s, when many young men were going off to war and leaving loved ones behind. I connect this song with my oldest brother and his wife. They met when they were in middle school, and when he went to Vietnam at the age of 18, she waited for him. They were married when he got back (he got married in his uniform), and they stayed married for 55 years. Sadly, she passed away about a month ago, but theirs was a love story for the ages, truly captured in this song.

Emily's looks, voice and playing are beyond compare but I don't think she'll get anywhere just doing covers. If she doesn't write songs herself she should find someone who does. Before the Beatles came along in the early sixties very few singers or bands wrote their own material, and in England, managers went to 'Tin Pan Alley' where writers wrote songs for stars. I really hope. In the meantime, I will go on listening to her. I really like listening to covers and I just discovered Emily this morning. She is an undiscovered talent. Fly high young lady!

I used to co-manage a rock band. They were adamant that they would build their reputation solely on music they’d written and performed themselves. As good as that music was, promoting them proved, thankless. As soon as they started covering rock classics, with their own slant injected into the performance, doors started opening. Once they had established a reputation as 1st class performers, they were able to successfully integrate their own material. I was introduced to Emily and her music a couple of years ago. I have relished experiencing her mature as a musician, vocalist and performer. I will always have time for her music, be it covers or originals. Doing what she’s doing, she has developed a huge following, even getting some of her performances on to some of the ‘audiophile’ streaming services. Yes, some original material would be nice. But believe you me, it’s an uphill struggle. Maybe some of Ed Sheeran’s magic would prove useful.
