One of things I love most about watching your tutorials and videos is your authenticity: “I abandoned my painting and moved on.” For less experienced artists that is super reassuring for self confidence.

One thing I love is seeing everyone's set ups, their easels, palette choice, how they have everything laid out. I feel 'equipment interest' is a separate hobby to the art itself 😂

Being around that many artists painting would intimidate me to no end. There is no way I could do any painting with that many people around. What an amazing opportunity. Seeing all of the new art supplies would be fantastic, I would probably go in debt. 😂 Great video.

Thank you so much for sharing this! There were so many talented artists and instructors there, it must have been quite an experience! We were impressed with how the artists just seemed to take the hazy atmosphere in stride and used it to great effect in some mysterious, subtle paintings!
@EmilyOlsonArt Жыл бұрын
Yes, everyone seemed to enjoy “capturing the haze”! It was really wonderful-I was especially inspired by the artists who paint with a loose and free “swashbuckling” style. I’d LOVE to paint with that kind of “intentional recklessness!”

Hullo Emily, thanks for sharing your wonderful time at this gathering of artists! I especially enjoyed how you used Denise Soden’s Wildlife Palette and created spectacular landscapes! DaVinci paints are so versatile and Denise’s selection is great for a wide range of subjects and not just animals! You proved this easily with your beautiful pictures! I liked it when you simply did not “feel” your painting was going anywhere, so you decided to take a break, walk about and experience your fellow artists and their paintings! Such fun!

Just got back from the Denver area after a family reunion. Whirlwind trip with little time to stop for any length of time so we took lots of pictures. Taking my photos off my phone and onto my laptop for editing. Will have to use photos instead of plein air this time. Really like what you had to show on this video. That part of Colorado is downright beautiful no matter which direction one looks. -OkieSketcher1949

Wow, excellent recap!! I’ve been trying to do the same with my vlog, but this was so succinct and professional that I’m in awe. I was hoping to meet you, but somehow our paths didn’t cross. You did the right thing by opting out of the Garden of the Gods paintout - it was so rainy and windy. Ooof! Your portrait of Michael was amazing. Sadly I wasn’t able to make it to RMNP, but seeing as it’s almost in my backyard (I’m in Fort Collins) I didn’t cry too much over it. Hallet’s is one of my fave peaks to paint, and you NAILED it. Inspiring, as your thumbnail says, indeed. :)

Thank you for sharing your experience at the Plein Air Convention looks like lots of fun. Could you make a video with the water soluble oil paint? I've wondered if they dry quickly? Are they slower drying than acrylics? I have difficulty with watercolor drying so fast.

Hello Emily, for those of us who couldn’t attend do they have this convention on film so we can purchase it and see what happens in the exciting Plein Air convention? I purchasedPlein Air Live last year, and it was not the same thing. I guess I got duped. But I would really love to be able to see this convention even if it’s just on film.

What a great video! I live in Colorado Springs, just off of Garden of the Gods Rd. I’ll sheepishly confess that I’ve never plein aired there. Makes me realize I need to get out of my studio more 😬.
