1) Marshall made this song to work through the grief of Proof’s passing. 2) It was part of the “King Mathers” album, most of it was recorded from 2005-2006. Marshall was planning to release it in early 2008 as his retirement album. But that never happened cause he was dealing w/ Rehab after his overdose in 2007. 3) Probably Marshall’s saddest song of all time! (I personally love how he let’s the production/piano keys breathe in between the verses makes the song even that more emotional etc.) RIP BIG PROOF🥺💔🕊️✨

"You're Never Over" from Recovery is his only other song specifically dedicated to Proof and worth checking out (yes he mentions him in other songs I know). More up beat and polished, this was leaked hence the weird sound. He did do another version with a hook + Obie but I prefer this raw version

I've seen Marshall in concert 4 times in my life. I tried to make it a point to do it when he dropped a new album. He and Proof were the closest of Friends, his road and roll dawg. I lost my best friend because some stupid 14 year old kid that should've been home studying for school decided to shoot my 31 year old best friend at a Gas Station for $20 when he was filling up gas. Time is short chat. Appreciate every day you have and the time we still have good Artists alive. all ya'll.

I think the fazer is supposed to be simulating how his mindset was almost when you are hit with something insanely heavy your consciousness is near leaving you bc youre... idk what to call it? Possibly like hyperventilating? Ive been there when my brother and then my best friend committed su**ide a month apart in 2016. I would be so bent outta shape and worked up that it would be tough to breathe inbetween the wailing and crying and sniffling and groaning bc it was just so damn overwhelming. It's not about Royce. Proof had already squashed the beef with Royce so they were cool. It was most likely aimed at Mudd from 5-Ela (Proof's old group in the 90s) Mudd, Horny Mac and Chop were the people Proof was with the night he was killed, both Mudd and Horny Mac ditched Proof's body and Mudd did an interview with XXL and changed a lot of his story on what happened that night. After the funeral Mudd and Thyme went on radio and talked shit about Em how he acted like the whole funeral was about him and said they wanted to go up there and smack him. They also said he received an award at the funeral (which wasn't an award, he was given a framed photo of him and Proof from Proof's mother). Kuniva also answered Mudd on the song ''Gun Shots Pt. 2''.
