This is pure hip hop, The premise of the song is that every time he hears an instrumental he has to lyrically “murder” it, he can’t stop himself from creating and writing music, the energy within him that gets inspired is infinite. It’s one his earliest songs and he had already mastered the craft before anyone knew who he was. He’s was recognising the god within him. as a writer I feel pain and sheer amazement that this is some of Eminem’s earliest work and that he had already mastered the craft before even beginning his path into stardom, the pain comes from a place of love and the reality of knowing some of my most crafted verses reach nowhere close to this song. It’s humbling. I learn something new every time I listen to it.

I remember being around 9 years old in the car with my big brother who was always bumping Word of Mouth from Ludacris, Nelly’s Country Grammar cd, Mystikal, Nappy Roots, Bone Thugs, and so many other classics that I loved. I used to always see Eminem’s Slim Shady LP inside of his massive CD collection case but he would never let me hear it because he said I was too young at that time. Then he pulled out an original CD copy of Eminem’s “Infinite” and said, “I think you’d really like this one”. He popped that disk into his car CD player and I was completely blown away and in love. That was in 1999. I’m 34 now in 2024, and Looking back, I feel so lucky and “cool” to know that I was bumping tracks like Infinite, 313, Open Mic, it’s ok, and Never too Far. Those were my go to favorites that I always asked my bro to play. Open Mic was first request though because that hook always had me cracking up 😂 my mom would never buy me any of those rap albums that my bro had. The only rap CD she bought for me was the “Beware of Dog” album from Lil Bow wow in the year 2000 haha. I was 10, so of course I loved that shit, especially knowing he was only 13, just 3 years older than me. then 3 years later, the Eminem Show came out and I begged my mom for the CD. I somehow convinced her to get me the clean edited copy. It was over with from there. Then once I turned like 14, my brother finally let me listen to the SSLP. Those were all monumental memories in my life that I hold close to my heart lol. I became I Stan without knowing that I became a Stan. That term made so much sense to me once they actually put it in the dictionary lol. And I don’t mean a crazy obsessed fan, I just had Eminem towards the top of my go to rappers list and always watched out for any projects he ever released since then.
