Southpaw is a great movie with greatt storytelling, it's a must watch. Southpaw movie is so underrated, its on the level of Rocky series as in boxing movies.

I'm sure it's been suggested but could you also do King's Never Die by Eminem and Gwen Stefani? It's kind of a "sister" song to this as they are from the same soundtrack (the movie Southpaw, which Eminem was originally cast as the lead role, but he turned it down, instead being a consultant and doing much of the soundtrack for it). Anyways, King's Never Die is an amazing song. A little easier to keep up with than this song actually but still great.

This Music Video really makes me want Em in another motion picture film it’s a shame he hasn’t applied for other roles but I can understand why at the end of the day it’s what started his drug addiction in the first place on the Set of 8 Mile but speaking on the track this song is super motivational frfr and Em is still showing his lyrical prowess truly The Goat Of Hip Hop Forever! “Phenomenal” ~ This DJ Khalil produced song was recorded by Eminem for the boxing movie Southpaw. The rapper's label Shady Records produced the OST for the film. Originally Eminem was earmarked to star in the movie when it was announced in December 2010 but he later dropped out and was replaced by actor Jake Gyllenhaal. The song was previewed in a Beats By Dre advert, which features Eminem's fellow Michigan native Draymond Green, a forward for the Golden State Warriors. Filmed in Tokyo, the 7-minute video features Eminem as a person with superhuman abilities. The clip starts off with the Detroit rapper waking up in a hospital then breaking out as he wishes to find out his true identity. We then see Eminem encounter a stranger played by John Malkovich with whom he has a conversation, before getting chased across the city where the stunts include Slim Shady riding a flaming motorbike and jumping out of an exploding helicopter. Eventually Em lands on stage at a massive gig with Dr Dre. Asked during a Twitter Q&A how he approached this song as the title track, given the success of the 8 Mile theme tune "Lose Yourself," Eminem replied: "'Phenomenal' is different from 'Lose Yourself.' Its just grit and determination. 'Lose Yourself' was more of a theme for the film." From what I've always taken from the video is, he wakes up in a lab, somebody's experiment with incredible skills. (As u can see throughout the video) and at the end he ends up with Dre infront of a microphone, which says he's going to use those skills for rapping. ( he is phenomenal on the mic)

I want to TRULY thank you for your reaction videos. They’ve been wonderful to watch. I don’t want you to feel self-conscious about your age, but I LOVE that you opened up the door and accepted more genres; ESPECIALLY Eminem. I have a reason for this explanation so please read- My mom was born in 1953 and started losing her hearing when she was 16, it leveled out at 30 which was 3 years before she had me. So she’s completely deaf in one ear and only has (technically) 30% hearing in the other but the range differs, her low range is worse than the rest also with some random pitches. She has hearing aids but they can only do so much and mainly amplify everything, not near vs far etc. AS A RESULT music she can actually understand, which she LOVES is limited to clear, articulate, enunciated words without music or effects that are close enough in volume to even come CLOSE to the vocal volume. She mainly just listens to oldies because she knew them before she lost her hearing & trying to find gold (a song she can hear instead of lots of random noise) on a radio station gives her a headache. I’ve helped her learn a LOT of songs where she could hear them singing but not quite understand the words by letting her hear the line, pausing, repeating it for her myself, playing the next line etc. I actually believe she would really enjoy a lot of Eminem’s music if she could hear it, she’d definitely agree with the message if not the amount of profanity (it would be a matter of sheer volume rather than him using it, the more vulgar stuff would upset her more but the message would mostly outweigh it). She can’t enjoy Pentatonix either because they’re all too close in volume to clearly understand the singing which she’d love too. She likes some of Nelly’s stuff from the 90s where I helped her learn the words. Eminem never got a chance after everything she saw on TV and magazine covers in checkout lines though. I don’t think she’d even believe he was capable of being so deep, talented, passionate, sensitive, feeling, or funny no matter what I said because she can’t hear it for herself. It’s not like closed captions can keep up or even accurately spell most of his stuff which still isn’t as meaningful without hearing his voice; his songs have a LOT of effects and/or loud music/hooks that are death to less advanced hearing aids

I love the fact that you try and help your mother appreciate good content. My mother has been struggling with hearing loss for a long time and just recently got hearing aids, but she can’t get them in because she has arthritis in her hands. It’s sad to watch and it’s so obvious of how many things she’s missing in life. I totally get where you’re coming from.

I call myself her “translator” because if she’s talking to someone and looks at me I automatically repeat what they said clearly while moving my lips properly so she can read them, if that doesn’t work I spell the word she’s having trouble with or sign it if I happen to know the whole word, last resort is spelling in sign language. I picked up lip reading from her along with the sign language alphabet with the ABC song and random words (she’s not fluent). You never realize how much it affects people socially till it’s someone you’re close to. No one likes repeating themselves, especially jokes because “it’s not funny anymore”. Well it’s certainly funny for the person that didn’t catch it the first. You just slowly get excluded from everything going on by people not thinking and saying “it’s nothing, don’t worry about it, oh you wouldn’t be interested” etc. But having someone who loved music like she and I losing ALMOST enough hearing to get cochlear implants (30% in one ear? She was told it needs to be 25% at most) before it levels off??? It’s just cruel. It doesn’t stop her from blasting The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, or The Temptations and dancing like no one’s watching while she cleans.

I recommend listening to the track Infinite from his album Infinite. He has it uploaded to his channel. It's from his first album before he met Dre. Sold around 2,000 copies if that. It makes you realize he's always been skilled with a pen and is a great nostalgic trip to the mid 90s.

I watched this video on my own to check this car again and I can't pretend I haven't seen some stuff. It's s13 coupe with pop-up headlights front end, it was only sold in US, it has side markers which only US versions had so that would mean someone converted USDM Nissan 240sx s13 to right hand drive 🤔? NOPE! I've found this exact car online and it's left hand drive. They put dash cover and fake steering wheel on the other side for it to look like Em is driving. The owner would never let damage his car for the video purposes so we can see they're driving modified s13 coupe and after the crash Em is standing on stock, totalled s13 hatch. Yup, I know I'm weird lol 😅

This video always gives me The Bourne Identity vibes, just cause of the fighting skills and amnesia and being hunted without knowing why. I'd have loved a full movie... but I don't think it's got an explainable story, it is just about the spy movie vibes. And yes, this video is mainly about the video, listening to the song on its on is completely different in this case (there is a whole other verse as well, here it is replaced by the scene in the middle), so I basically treat this video and the song as two separate pieces of art :D

eminem actually does (or did?) box; he trained personally with Emanuel Steward and theres an interview of him talking about that and other things with Mike Tyson on the Hotboxing podcast also - the reference to the movie is that this song is motivational/uplifting etc and the movie is a comeback movie, the main character was a successful boxer but after a string of personal battles (losses, grief, addiction, violelence etc) he needs to make a comeback to get his daughter to love him again. the movie was apparently written with eminem in mind, as a sort of analogy for HIS situation around 2006 when his life went downhill, and how he eventually escaped the dark space for his kids. he was part of the process from the start, and when he decided he didnt have the time or mindset to act, he decided to do the soundtrack. it features other songs by artists on his label/his friends, like RNS from Slaughterhouse, Raw from him and Royce, and This Corner from Denaun (a friend all the way back when he was just a dishwasher in Detroit, rhyming with Proof)

The music video doesn't technically tie in with the movie but the song lyrics is more a uplifting song made for the movie where in southpaw jake is the Ring in the 2ed/3rd bout down for the count until song plays in background and hypes jake up for the fight to get back into fight.. also em to be the movie signed on for Jake's role but Marshall had to pull out last moment because plate for fool so as a sorry em said look my bad I'll do the soundtrack for but the director wrote the lead role jake was in exclusively for em and Marshall does box has for a long time
