The pride to see a young man from the same hood as me get his own star ⭐️ was a very emotional time for me. Seeing him as a kid well into our late teens and seeing how far he’s made it really hit me deep down in my heart.

Whether it’s stars we leave on wall of fame or stars we leave in those close to us, I’m sure you’re making an impact as well. But also amazing to see someone come up like that. Talent, crazy work ethic, so much went into it.

@@malovina Yes! He had a very sad childhood. His father left his mother when she was pregnant and never bothered to look for his son Curtis Jackson. His mother was in her mid teens when she gave birth to him and during the worst crack and heroin epidemic in nyc. Before he could walk his mother refused to take help from the government. She was a proud young girl and refused to accept welfare Food stamps or any kind of help that 80% of New Yorkers were using to make ends meet. Not accepting government help left here in what she had not realized NYC was headed into. One of the worst economic troubles, the City of New York responded by laying off thousands of city workers and cutting municipal services such as sanitation and after-school programs. 50cent’s mother had a good relationship with one of the biggest drug dealers in Jamaica Queens. She knew him elementary school so felt comfortable going to him and asking him to give her a job selling heroin. He gave her a job and she chose to stand on her block which was her boss’s drug turf. Amongst the countless drug dealers wanting the gold mine neighborhood blocks created a very violent ruthless turf war. 50cents mother still a young woman was the only woman taking a huge risk everyday that she stood outside selling heroin. She began making a lot of money but was not giving Curtis much quality time. He saw his mom on weekends and weekdays he had to be in bed early for school his mother would not go home until she sold every bag of heroin in the bundle she picked up everyday. She had Curtis staying with his grandparents they helped take care of him while she worked long hours. On weekends she would buy Curtis gifts and sneakers to make up for not making time for him all week. She kept doing that and was making money with plans of buying a house to live in with 50cent. The turf war was raging on and because her boss was the most successful drug dealer in the neighborhood rivals knew that her block was the turf of the kingpin her boss with the biggest clientele and they realized her block was a gold mine and would be easy to take over all they saw was one little woman on a block where her boss’s clientele brought their drugs. The customers were loyal to his heroin because he sold it pure uncut. The other drug dealers not doing so good saw the lines that would go around the block every morning and they could take the block and sell their drugs to her bosses customers it went around for week or two and finally a young new drug dealer learned of that block, the older seasoned drug dealers wanted the block but all knew her boss was ruthless so they chose to not take it and avoid being murdered along with their family. The new comer young and new drug dealer did not know who her boss was and he didn’t know she worked for him but he also did not know how merciless and ruthless her boss was. He decided he was going to kill her and take the block and her death would send a clear message that he was there and he owned that block. The next day he was murdered and within a month 16 family members were murdered a few were children. That was what took 50cents mom while he was just still a 6 yr old boy. No father no mother and a long road ahead. He grew up and battled the pain of not having parents and finally as an adult was shot 7 times at close range. He defeated all the odds and became one of the most successful music artists and entrepreneur. The actions taken by the City of New York created mayhem. Thousands of citizens ended laid off which left thousands having to make disgraceful decisions of turning to crime or selling drugs which was a HUGE problem in NYC. Every corner in nyc had heroin addicts walking around like zombies, it was so bad the sidewalks were literally littered with used syringes. You could not walk down a street sidewalk and not step on syringes. Crack vials were littered along the syringes and got so out of hand you literally could not see the actual pavement instead every side walk became a sea of plastic and orange caps with blue specs which were the caps of the tiny crack vials. Heroin was being used by at least one individual in every family but normally entire fabules would use and leave their babies roaming around while they shot up and nodded out for hours. Everyone was addicted to heroin so much so that they gave up on hiding it and shoot up outside not ashamed of being seen by family or friends because they were doing the same thing. It was truly sad. When the thousands of workers that got laid off were now well into a year of no income this lead to further destruction. The thousands of middle class citizens that were laid off we’re homeowners. Zero mortgage payments they all were in the verge of losing their homes and certain homelessness. Banks began putting liens on thousands of homes and what came next was these unfortunate families looking into an uncertain future only certainty was homelessness. These law abiding citizens Middle class families began hearing a rumor (Insurance Job) By time of rumor spreading houses were being torched by the owners to file a insurance claim that would get them large sums of cash so they took to it and within 5 months New York City looked like a war zone entire city blocks burned down to rubble as far as eye can see. NYC looked like it was hit by a nuclear weapon. Every house burned down heroin addicts stumbling around the streets like zombies. That’s when nyc hit rock bottom and police were scared to drive into most neighborhoods and the lucky business’ that remained standing and open began getting looted. Looting became a lifestyle for every New Yorker that needed money. And finally the black out that left nyc in the pitch-black poor folks that managed to scrounge up enough food to keep their fridge stocked now had no power hunger set it fast as tons of rotten food were being dumped outside. Sanitation workers were all laid off leaving mountains of trash piling up everywhere and rotten food reeked of death and hell. I can go on but what I just typed is enough to sadden anyone.
