If only Manson had a special part in the performance (aside from chanting the chorus and being present)! I wonder how much he actually enjoyed doing that. Maybe a radical remix at the end to mash The Way I Am with Marilyn's abrasive musical style and thrilling presence would have created something of a rare spectacle and I think it would have equalized them appropriately as controversially uncompromising rock stars. Manson was there because he and Eminem were both in Barcelona for the 2002 MTV EMA's. They had been friends dating back to 2000 when Eminem had him in the video for The Way I Am and they had also toured together on the Anger Management Tour. It wasn't as if Marilyn Manson just flew over to Barcelona to join him on stage for 2 minutes, they were both in town anyway for the award show and Em was holding this one off concert to promote Shady Records and his move 8 Mile which was out the same week.
