Emirates 777 Business Class (they keep surprising me)

They don't lie flat!? There are middle seats!? That's a logical response to the Emirates 777 business class product. But I wanted to test it out for myself and find out, is it really that bad? So after my disappointing trip on the Emirates A380 it's time to board the 777-300ER from Dubai to Stockholm. For good measure I sample some of the lounges at Dubai and reflect on DXB as a hub as well. The 77W is a wonderful airplane kitted out with some very old and outdated business class seats. Will the combination be a loser, or a surprise winner? (Small spoiler alert: this did not go how I expected it to.)

I agree, I didn't find the lounge inviting and in the morning it's like a railway station. It may be big, but to me that's not a selling point.

The funniest thing happened before your video started: KZbin played a commercial, Qatar Airways advertising their business class. The Emirates business class as shown in your video really surprises me negatively. I've flown in their Economy a few times 6-8 years ago and that was a great product compared to other airlines. Looks as if their expansion went at the expense of not keeping the business cabins competitive.

That is funny! Ideal placement for Qatar and most likely not an accident on the part of Google Adsense 😁. The crazy thing is Emirates has its superfans regardless who don't care that this is the business class offering. Emirates is very deliberate about what they do so I have to assume it's a conscious calculation that they can get away with not upgrading these cabins, and that seems to be true. It's all pretty interesting, in any case.

For someone like myself that also has the perspective of flying international long haul business class, I share your distaste for the EK aesthetic. The comfortable seat and a positive attitude from the crew tend to make the flight more enjoyable. For me, it’s the hard product along with the food offerings that do it for me. Keep moving forward!

Robbery, 3 middle seats and the entertainment controls were antique for both NBO-DXN, DXB-CMB. The business class lounge is like a Bus Stop.

Almost exactly my experience on the 777... Crew much more attentive and less rushed and yeah, something about the cabin that actually is pretty enjoyable, even though you dont think it will be. Helps having a pretty empty cabin... And when it is like you had, it feels really spacious. Try the Breakfast Martini next time too

Thanks for this review! Were you sitting in seat 6K? I'm flying on this plane in July in business class from ATH-EWR and I'm conflicted on which seat would be best. I chose 6K but I'm worried if the person next to me is sleeping that I will have to climb over them to use the bathroom 😬

When it comes to lounges, they should be an oasis & better for transfer passengers. I'm an avgeek & like to get to the airport early but there aren't many lounges that are actually worth the visit. I've noticed many reviewers make to big of a deal about going to a lounge. Maybe it makes them look important. Its the least important thing for me, unless i have a long enough transfer. For boarding and landing music, I'd prefer something more relaxing.

I think a good lounge makes a world of difference. It's a way to be apart from a potentially crowded and chaotic terminal; it means you have access to free food and drink and can avoid inflated (and probably poor quality) airport offerings; it's a place where you stand a chance of having some undistracted work time between flights or even a meeting. In the best ones you can even take a nap in private. But of course, the main event is what happens onboard the flight, I agree. Thanks for the comment! (and I also agree with you about the boarding music)
