Emirates Cabin Crew Vlog | A Month On Reserve | 3am Standby | GRWM

Welcome to another video of my life as a flight attendant as a South African Emirates Cabin Crew! This time, I’m on a whole month of reserve.
I’ve done two flight already, one to Islamabad and one to Taipei, and now I’m starting this video on a home standby from 9pm until 3am. I could be pulled out anytime between 9pm and 3am.
Reserve means that for the next 30days, I can’t make any plans because I don’t know if I have a day off or if I’m going to have a standby and possibly be pulled out for a flight. I can also have a standby and not be pulled for a flight and then have a normal day off. If you’re someone who dislikes routine and loves a constant change and unknown, then this is probably the best job for you!
I also get to fly with one of the kindest people I know! @lilygoma from Egypt! We met during a flight to Lisbon and she was such a positive light on board as well as on the layover and I was so excited when I saw that I was going to fly with her again.

I’m a flight attendant too In the US and I’ve been on reserve before. Let me tell you that look you got when you got called at 3am. Lmao I have been there girl. It is the worst. I’ve had times where I just started crying and cursing the job. But then you get a long layover in Miami on your birthday with your best friend and you think , how could I ever leave this job ???? I hardly slept because I was afraid to miss the call that I'm pulled out and then getting pulled out for a 10+ hour flight did not help the matter haha. But it was a really lovely layover and I ended up flying with some of the nicest people and I think the exact same; How could I ever leave this job?? Aw thank you!! I have actually started only now to take care of my hair. I'm using less heat, and I looooove hair masks and leave them in a bun during a flight and wash it out after the flight. I also use a micro fiber hair towel as they are suppose to not break your hair when you dry it. And hair oil! I have just switched to shampoo and conditioner bars and a silk pillow. Hope it works haha!

Looks fun but also extremely lonely. I traveled alot around the USA and hated the times I was site seeing alone and no one to share the experience with.

I actually saw my friends on a few days of the month but didn't film it hehe. But it can be lonely for people who, I think are used to being around people and maybe for extroverts. I love my alone time. When I'm on board I am very outgoing and talk to everyone, but when I'm alone I use that time to recharge my mind and body and reset and prepare for the next flight. I also go over to my partner's place after flights sometimes as he also lives in Dubai.

Hello! Thank you for watching :) Sometimes if I cooked dinner at home for myself and have left over, I'll bring it along for the flight. We have a crew cart that has meals and poke bowls for us to eat during the flight so we don't really need to bring our own food. The other thing is also that we are not allowed to have any extra bags other than. our company issued cabin bags and red handbags because of our image and uniform standards, so we need to have something that fits inside our cabin bags next to our waistcoat and cabin shoes and my amenity kit that I always carry with me. If I want to take food with me for a layover, it depends on the destination really. Countries like Australia and some Asian countries don't want us bringing in certain foods. :)

So I'm looking at becoming a flight attendant, also south african. I notice that you spend time going to spas, getting pampered etc. That's lovely! I'm assuming that's because that's something that you like to do and is important to you. I like to go out in nature and explore. swim in pools or the beach. Would it be likely to be able to do these things as a flight attendant?

Hello! I have to add I did a lot of this because it that moment some of the countries required me to stay indoors because of covid :D But I actually do love getting pampered, it is so good for my soul to relax and take care of myself. So let me tell you about my flatmate, any chance she gets, she packs her camping gear and on her layovers she rents a car, goes to the hiking treks and goes camping, then watches the sunrise, and gets back in time for the wake up call. You can. really spend your layovers how you want to.

Hello! Sadly this isn't info that I know of. What you can do is apply, and then they will invite you to the assessment day when they come, and if you are not able to go to that day just email them and ask if you can come to the next one as you are not available on this date. :)

Hello! We have 24hour layovers. So you land, go to the hotel, and then you can do what you want, explore, eat, shop, until the next day where they will give you a 'wake up call' where you have to be ready in 45minutes and go downstairs to check out of the hotel.
