Yea with the Charles Martinet thing, idk why people are tripping. Nintendo didn't simply replace the man. I'm 100% sure he played a part in vetting the replacement. They gave him what is effectively a RETIREMENT POSITION, with a raise. And the position also provides him influence in oversight of anything Mario related from this point on. They did an honor to the man.

The issue is that the quote people keep using is cut off. The full quote is "I want to voice Mario until I drop dead. If someday I think I am no longer capable of doing it, I will tell Nintendo to look into finding someone else.’’ Which is exactly what he did. He admitted that he was starting to struggle with the voices, and that they were straining his throat now, so he made the decision to retire.

22:08 In fairness, it was streaming that devastated the DVD market. Downloading really only killed the public domain DVD market, which was never very big to begin with. 23:32 To clarify: OceanGate had *TWO* submarines. 6:20 For further context here. LTT made a video testing out Bilet Labs copper cooler prototype, except they tested it on a video card that the cooler wasn't designed for. This made the results of the test completely invalid, but that didn't stop them from continuing to give it a bad review. Instead of taking the video down and retesting it PROPERLY, Linus continued to double and even triple down on refusing to shill out, in his own words, 500 dollars of his employees' time for a product he continued to proclaim that no one should buy. For a small company like Bilet Labs, a completely unprofessional bad faith review like this from a major channel like LTT can destroy their very livelihoods. AND THEN, instead of sending the prototype back to Bilet, LTT illegally sold it in a charity auction WITHOUT BILET'S PERMISSION! And it took another major tech channel calling LTT out for their irresponsible behavior for them to actually get off their asses and properly fix the situation THEY CAUSED. And throughout this whole goddamn thing, Linus has just come off like an absolute douchebag who refuses to admit that he was wrong.

I've been saying _for YEARS_ that things were not great at LTT, and a lot of the problem is centered around the single common denominator... namely, Linus and his attitudes about, well, *everything.* No doubt in my mind the staffer that called out Gamers Nexus in one of their LTX videos got instantly fired when things heated up. But if anything, I would buy that guy his choice of booze because it forced everyone to see what a toxic douchebag Linus Sebastian is.

I don't know, I still fully believe him when he says that the selling or auctioning was due to a communication error. Dude has like over a hundred employees at this point, stuff slips through the cracks. Still weird that they haven't taken down the original video, although someone suggested that if they did it could be seen as tampering with evidence in a legal setting. I don't know how court works in Canada, but apparently everyone keeps saying that they are to legally allowed to address anything while the court proceedings are happening.

@@AIHumanEquality SOME of the Mujahideen became part of the Taliban. Most fought against them, as part of the Northern Alliance when the Taliban originally took power, and even now they are openly resisting the Taliban. But yeah, it's complex, like you said. @_car5323 Жыл бұрын
@@Revelwoodie During the Soviet-Afghan war they were all "mujahideen" in the press. It's actually Arabic for jihadists, but because it becomes "jahid" in this word, it makes it less obvious that they're Islamic guerillas (since even then Islamic terrorists were a global threat). By tying it to other keywords like freedom fighters, anti-communists, resistance fighters, etc in the news it makes it appear to be a heroic term, thus making it acceptable to donate military equipment to the "good guys" putting up a "united front." The groups covered by this blanket term were already opposed to each other (the obvious Sunni/Shia split but also religious ideologies and warlord groups). This later transfers to the "democratic Northern Alliance" after the civil war, who kept up appearances as the good guys to secure foreign military aid against the mainly Pakistan-backed "Taliban" groups while the southern Shia groups were left to die because of their Iranian ties.

Would it be possible for the guy whose job it is to collect the screenshots for Robin to react to to also grab, or write, little explainers for everyone. I know Emkay is a content mill that can’t spend too much time on each individual video, but the correlation between time spent on something and the quality of the result can be seen as exponential* - sometimes spending just 10% extra time on something can as much as double the quality. * If you zoom out then it’s actually sigmoidal, but that doesn’t help my argument.

16:47 I also recently found out from Veritasium that smoking cigarettes gives your lungs on average a higher dose of ionizing radiation than even the current most radioactive place on Earth or in space does, which does explain why we've seen multiple types of cancer being increasingly common in smokers' bodies compared to non-smokers. If the horrible consequences of smoking you see on cigarette packages (and cigarette ads, if there even still are any) wasn't dissuasive enough, I think people would be more inclined to quit smoking entirely if they knew that every puff they inhale is a small portion of radioactive material which given enough volume and time will eventually slowly kill them from within in a truly horrifying way.

@@goldlemur8 I am not actually familiar with the series, but was curious myself and searched it up. From what I could find, it is from "Higurashi When They Cry". (adding lots of line breaks to force the "read more" option because the scene is gruesome) According to the fandom wiki, Mion forces Shion to rip off three of her own fingernails as punishment (idk what she is being punished for, again, I'm not familiar with the series). It also says that Mion later rips off three of her own fingernails as retribution.

Meh, the Ouya was still worth $100 to me for what I got out of it. Yes, it has a touch controller (i.e. a touchpad on the controller for playing Android games that require touch). Business-wise, it was a flop. I released a large, complete game on it and got maybe 1 sale? The thing did get us all talking and the indie games on it were fun. Heck, Towerfall launched there.

20:13 i go to school in this city, and the LRT is a nightmare. its supposed to be "light rail transit" to get from place to place in Edmonton quickly, but the city is so car-centric that the LRT is just bothersome. It cuts across roads and has construction and testing CONSTANTLY. there are always promises of new lines and improvements that will never come. not to mention, it is NOTORIOUSLY dangerous to ride as a passenger (people being stabbed, people doing drugs on board, notoriously aggressive homeless people living in the underground stations because they have nowhere else to go, to name a few). Folk Fest transportation is just the tip of the iceberg.

about the physical media bit: I have a theory, and this will either end up on R/agedlikemilk or R/agedlikewine With all the scummy business practices and poor decisions that companies have been making with streaming services lately, I am convinced that, within the next decade or two, they're gonna die out and we'll all go crawling back to normal TV and physical copies of stuff. and personally, I'm all for it as I prefer those forms of media.

I feel like the government knowing your location would be the better of the two because if handled right, it could prevent kidnapping, trafficking, if you go missing they can find you, and stuff like that, and maybe even a choice to only make public if consented to or in a dire emergency. Like how we have emergency contacts for medical stuff sometimes. But we all know that the government wouldn't actually focus on that in reality.
