It's true, she progressed in vocal power, but she did not do or she forgot essental what made her a world star: emotions, heart and soul! I think this song didn't express all that.

Songwriter/composer Tjeerd Oosterhuis has written this song 20 years ago and it has been on the shelf ever since till..... Emma came along and she loved it. So this is not a cover. To perform it in this show is her initiative. She showed the song to André and asked him if she could perform it. André Rieu embraced the idea and he made it fit for performing it with his orchestra: this is the result. What a wonderful song, so fitting to Emma. Apart from her vocal gift I am equally impressed by her public speaking. I mean: speaking in front of a 12000 audience is a challenge for any 16 year old. And there she is, talking to the audience as if she has done that for decades.

To be more specific, every 4 month the feeding tubes have to be replaced. This is a very painfull process and Emma is not able to describe the pain. She indures this operation without any anesthesia because that could harm her voice. Normaly this operation is completed in about 15 minutes, but this time something went wrong, the guidance cord was wrapped up in her stomach and the whole process had to be done over again, taking much more time and causing a lot more pain. But a day after she was already present to support a music event for children. And after that the rehearsal for this performance. She's a warrior❤

Thank you for this reaction. I'm sorry to hear about your recent health issue, and I sincerely hope it is behind you. Once again, Emma has given us an extraordinary performance that will never be forgotten. You might find it interesting to know that the song 'Dancing on the Stars', was written by her friend Tjeerd Oosterhuis 20 years ago, 5 years before Emma was born. He had never performed it, or gave it to anyone else to perform, or even published it in all those years until he showed it to Emma a few months ago. Together with Andre Rieu they created this arrangement that Emma has just performed flawlessly. If you think about it, this beautiful song has been waiting all these years for Emma. Thanks again for your heartfelt reaction and kind words about Emma. All the best.

How lucky am i to have seen this live in that setting..this year AND her first performance last year..words can not describe the energy and vibe that you can feel on the big square. You can hear a pin drop in the silent parts and you can feel the wave of goose bumps. Buying ticket is worth it, only to hear this song alone. After this song, she did a re-take on 'Voila'. Hearing the two songs back to back....simply amazing...

Emma is so amazing, a beautiful young singer who touches your soul. If you ever wondered if there is a God, Emma is proof of His existence. The emotions she stirs originate in the soul and you can feel their connection to a higher level. Emma is very special and she is showing the world that we each have a soul connected to her soul and all other souls and of course souls are God material. She is opening the eyes of her listeners, including Andre, that there is so much more to life. I too, thought she was as perfect as can be, but it does appear she is improving upon perfection. I have no doubt that she is connected to God and only positive experiences are in store for her and her listeners. God bless Emma, her family, Andre, and all listeners who are on the journey with Emma. I will digress a little to state that Emma is at an extremely high level of consciousness, which allows her the power and energy to reach her listeners with an awe inspiring experience as she touches their souls.

A nice reaction to Emma as usual; I like to see how it touches you because it mirrors my own response on first viewing. This performance came at the end of a huge week for Emma, and a difficult and painful one (some links below explain, more for interest rather than reaction): Sunday 30th June - Emma sang the Dutch National Anthem at the MotoGP in Assen with 110 thousand at the circuit and 400 million (yes, 400 million) watching on tv - its only 1 minute long so not ideal for a reaction but as a spectacle its beautiful as the nerveless Emma belts out the anthem (if you look at the front on view of Emma, you will see a bump on Emma's outfit on the lower right of her tummy; this is the outline of the 'Mickey Button' interface into her abdomen where her feeding tubes connect) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5nWep1jntx-qqc Monday 1st July - Emma was the focal point for an event for 'Future Music' where she sang Voila with, and presented 120 violins to, 120 children who will be supported while they learn the instrument - the piece linked here has auto-translated CCs which are kind of okay and includes a sweet interview with Emma - kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4GunZ96q7ppgLM Tuesday 2nd July - Emma was in hospital for her 5 monthly feeding tube change - this involves threading a guide wire down the existing tubes, withdrawing the tubes, then threading new tubes over the guide wire into place. Emma refers to "15 minutes of unimaginable pain" which she endures without anesthetic because it can damage her voice, but this time the wires/tubes got coiled up inside her and it took an hour to fix the problem. The rest of the day spent recovering. See Emma's Instagram for more detail and photo. Wednesday 3rd July - Rehearsals in bad weather in Maastricht, Emma in a full length winter coat and baseball cap, still feeling the effects of the previous days hospital visit. - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmfFnXZrfr-Ce6M Thursday - 4th July- first performance of 'Dancing On The Stars' for a 12500 crowd. Friday - 5th July - The performance in this reaction video, just 3 days after the dramatic hospital procedure. Note the composer of 'Dancing...' pointed out in the video, Tjeerd Oosterhuis (phonetically pronounced "Cheered Oosterhouse"), also wrote Emma's first 2 singles, Laat Mij Een Vlinder Zijn (Let Me Be A Butterfly) when Emma was 13 to which you have reacted, and 'Strijder' when Emma was 14. It is a close collaboration; Tjeerd has two young daughters who were among the friends and family flown out to Athens by Andre as a surprise on Emma’s 16th birthday. They all attended the Athens concert and Andre organised a party for them all.

To clarify a point I made in my comment, ie, that 'Emma has her feeding tube and Mickey Button replacement without anesthetic because it can damage her voice'. I had always assumed it was because of the drugs used. However, in an interview on Dutch tv last Tuesday evening Emma talks about this. She made the decision to not have the anesthetic when she was 13 while in the middle of 'The Voice' series and she had other scheduled performances. The reason it can affect her voice is that when they replace the Mickey button they would normally use anesthetic and require Emma to be intubated with an endotraceal tube down her throat/windpipe. She made this decision herself. In the interview you can almost feel the air sucked out of the room as the adults sit in awe of this young person describing this decision. You can see on Emma's face right at the end of this segment that it is a big deal for her. Andre Rieu adds that she is so focused and determined, knows what she want to do and where she is going - and just does it! He says that's one reason why she is so fantastic to work with. The program was an hour long but the section on Emma's illness and no anesthetic starts at 33:21. The link here takes you to the start of Emma's entire segment which runs from 25:15 to 39:45. It's in Dutch but the CCs with Auto-translate are reasonably good. They present her as the 'star' of the Vrijthof Concerts and being the 'talk of the square and of the city' - Andre agrees. They talk about her journey, now being recognised if she walks around 'The Square' where last year she wasn't, her parents helping her keep her feet on the ground, the new song. Andre and Frank Steijns talk passionately about her professionalism and maturity, and that she performs perfectly time after time. They don't have to search the video footage for the perfect performance, its good every time. They talk about her performing as confidently as someone having done it for 50 years. They talk about the future and decisions about the balance between her career with the orchestra and her solo career both of which are currently "fantastic" to quote the interviewer. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3Xci6SsqJt2rq8

@@RogerClutton Hallo Roger. Top

Yes, she does come across as being quite humble. But something no one has commented on, she also seems a hard worker too, as far as singing is concerned. "Viola" in 2023 was her international breakthrough moment, but before that, ever since she won the Voice Kids 2021 at 12 yrs old, she had appeared in loads of events. I seen videos of her performing in a local bike race ceremony, local kiddie parks stage events, local festivals, even performed in a corporate team building event, a series of small concerts in her own name, guested in a few concerts & released a couple of teens singles. And then won another contest called Mini Stars in the Netherlands. Now she is in high demand to guest in WW2 memorial concerts.
