The tournament has a 56 player field. Radcanu was ranked at 56 at the time of receiving the wild card. So arguably she actually belongs there this time around. Especially considering that seven players withdrew, Raducanu potentially could have gotten in even without the wild card. I think that the top eight seeds receiving a bye is more of a travesty with playing spots totally wasted. They should do a full playing fields in these tournaments so there can be more spots for lower ranked players.

I saw the who match. Her third consecutive round 1 elemination. At least her 16th occasion since her US Open win that she's been knocked out in either the first or second round (I stopped counting during 2024) This is what happens when the athlete surrounds themselves with yes men and thinks that they know more than their coach. Any one who questions her is fired. So now she is losing to an athlete who she defeated 3 weeks earlier at the Australian Open. On that occasion they blamed her rustiness on a lack of game time.

hey folks..if u watch Emma...this girl can really play..her opponent Alexandrova is a top player and can beat anyone in the top 10..both players played well but Alexanderova was definately on her game..Emma gas great groundstrokes..good defense and offense..she hustles and has good speed...more importantly-- she looks great in white!!!..wow!!

Emma’s game has become very one-dimensional - just hitting groundstrokes hoping for the occasional winner or an opponent’s error. Her first serve is no longer a weapon but a liability….. she’s got nothing else to help her win points. No variety like drop shots and lobs or offpace angled shots.

When Emma won her US Open, she had much better 2nd serves. Emma could hit through players from either forehands or backhands. She was smart at receiving serves and attacked the 2nd serves. She broke numerous opponent's serves. Since that beautiful US Open victory, Emma didn't even come close to replicating that performance. This has been a long and very long time. To say that poor Emma won't be able to repeat as a GS Champion is an understatement. I love Emma but her chance of repeating her 2021 accomplishment is very low.

fair comment. i think the problem is between her ears. she won the us open '21 by attacking at every available opportunity. seems to have become very defensive in her mind. you can see it most in her groundstrokes. that split second of doubt puts her on the back foot in most rallies.

What's the problem, the H2H is 1-1, where EMMA won in a 2000 event as opposed to Alexandrova winning in a 1000 event. Higher ranked players, Kalinskaya/Shnaider also exited but no 'bitchiness' directed at them from deniers, quite obviously EMMA rents space in their cerebrum !!
