This era was Nadal´s peak in the game, from 2008-2010. His level was amazing, after these years it has been decresing a little bit every year. For those who criticize Novak and say he is proud they should watch this match again. It’s important to see his attitude after losing such a tough match. Both players were seeking their first US open title. So it was precious. But see how Novak remained very cheerful in defeat, and gave Rafa all due respects. Notice how he took the cheque off Rafa to allow him free his hands to carry the trophy. So impressive. Not only is Novak arguably the GOAT. He is also one of the best losers, if not the best, in the history of tennis.

Thing is Nadal became less physically fit than this match over the years whereas Djokovic became more fit than this over the years, that's one of the main reasons for Djokovic's utter dominance from 2011-2021 now. Hard work on physical fitness with right kinda diet along with improving his game finally paid off very well for him.

based on this, there is no way you can convince me that novak was better in their 2013 USO match. I mean, it makes sense, right? novak was closer to his 2011 form in the second half of 2010(wimbledon - tour finals), than his 2013 iteration, some one and a half years *after* the *end* of his 2011 season, than 2010 USO, less than 5 months(4 and a half months), *before* the *start* of his 2011 campaign.

Frustrating as a Djokovic fan that Nole leads 10-2 against Nadal on hard court in Master 1000 events (82% win rate), but only up 3-2 on hard court Grand Slam events. No doubt for me that Nadal is the best Grand Slam player ever. Proves that Nadal is not the same player in best of 3 as he is best of 5.

@@wave1468 I think it's just because Nadal plays his best tennis in Grand Slam events Nadal beat Djokovic at USO 2013 on outdour hard and Djokovic won 3 weeks later at Peking on outdour hard pretty easily where it was only a 500 event. Djokovic beat Nadal in Monte Carlo in 2013 but lost at RG a month later Djokovic beat Nadal in Rome in 2014 but lost at RG 2 weeks later Same with Thiem last 3 years, he was able to beat Nadal at Madrid, Barcelona or Rome, but never came close at RG ...

@@thexcookieman1842 Very true though in Rafa's defence he had something wrong with his playing finger for the beginning of the Clay season hence why he could suddenly come back and whoop everyone in Rome.
