Viola Davis won an award, I believe for best female actress, at the Critic's Choice Award today and gave an amazing, heartfelt speech. I commend her and the entire cast of The Help. It was fantastic.

All the actors and actresses did play their parts greatly in the film. They made their characters similar to those of the book (Although I haven't read the book myself but this is what I hear from most of the critics of the film.). They were perfect for their roles and they performed well. The movie was excellently outstanding! I'd raise both my thumbs up for it!

I have yet to watch this film and am looking forward to it very much. Emma is my sign, which is Scorpio and from experience we are very emotional and sensitive, more than most people and we are also very passionate so I can understand how and why she cries a lot. The sign of a beautiful soul. Looking forward to crying watching this film.

This movie made me cry like a baby. It's really sad how people treated these people back then Just because of their skin color they treat them like if they were something out of this world or something they have arms, legs, talk and have a mind like everyone else. What have they done to anyone? God didn't put anyone on this earth to suffer and nobody is better than the other person.

I just finished reading the Help, it was so amazing :) really a tear jerker. I also secretly feel like some of it was real and not fictional (I know that these types of situations occurred, but I mean that the author is pulling from her life rather than a work of fiction) Just a thought :) BUT THE BOOK WAS AMAZING!

brytanny11 So, you would recommend it then even after watching the film? I haven't read it yet because I'm afraid it will be redundant...

+brytanny11 I don't know which version you read but in my Kathryn Stockett says at the end that she hat a maid when she was younger an I think she kind of felt for her like Skeeter felt for Constantine... Sounds like it, the way she wrote about her maid (:

Congratulations to Viola Davis for winning Best Actress and Octavia Spencer for winning Best Supporting Actress and for The Cast of the Help for winning Best Ensemble Cast at the Critics Choice Awards. They all deserved thier win and accolades. I know white folks love to see blacks in this type of role and movie, but it is a part of our Black Culture. It was what it was. It was a great film.

@chrisdil682 I saw the video and I can understand your frustration. However, in that 106 interview she didn't say the entire state of MS or the South in general. I do think that was very unprofessional of her but maybe in the city she filmed in - that's what she experienced. I'm from California and people constantly stereotype Californians as saying "like", "whatever" and that "Valley girl" image. Of course everyone here is not like that. Don't pay Viola any attention. :-) MS is beautiful btw!
