hey all - i've put together another bank of patches (83 of them) from a bunch of my old projects. some of these probably appear in the other bank i've posted in the description, but plenty are new to this one i think. you can grab it here: heckscaper.com/usefulthings/Patches/synth1/halleypaches2.zip and you can see a list of the patches here: heckscaper.com/usefulthings/Patches/synth1/halleypatches2.png just extract it somewhere, click "opt" (options) in synth1 and point to wherever you put the folder using that window.

Watching good tutorials does get me motivated a bit, so thanks for doin' them. as a side note, I think M. Env dest is Modulation env. dest. but yeah, thanks for doin' these!

@fresh lemon water they take hours out of my day. if you are aware of just how much stuff i already do, you know that doing everything all the time is not sustainable.
@AutPen38 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, "m. env dest" must be "modulation envelope destination". I believe the LPDL filter is an emulation of the 18dB per octave low-pass diode ladder filter that famously gave the TB-303 its squelchy sound. Moogs used ladder filters too, IIRC. They have more "fatness" than typical LP filters.

MSX I beg you to keep doing this tutorials. [So nice visuals to understand; somehow nostalgic feelings; your voice; friendly atmosphere; this usage of terminology (even if I never heard that word I still understand the meaning); your explanation] - even if you think it's not I tell you-THIS one of the best and easy to listen tutorials I found on KZbin. You just have this ability to attract people by your work. It's funny how often I see you making excuses under comments that telling you are geniusL All content you create deserves more attention^in a good way.

This was the best crash course on Synth1 that I have ever seen. The additive and subtractive synthesis makes things thing so dynamic. I'm still a little confused but I'll get there. I started out with samples, presets and effects only. I honestly thought the presets for this thing ran on samples at first (LOL). After you explained how formant works I was blown away. Thank you so much for making this video!! Now I can turn some knobs and actually know what they do (beyond the basic ones anyway). ^_^

I've been singing this plugin's praises for a long while. Found out about it in in my mid teens and I'm in my mid 30's now. Still the first synth I reach for after all this time. It's straight up loaded by default in my startup template across multiple machine's and daw's. Despite all that there's thing's in this video that I actually managed to learn from. Kudos for that.

And here I thought I knew everything there was to know (more or less) of Synth1. Great video, didn't know of the Chorus feeding into delays thing. And I never realised how useful that little envelope of Osc 2 can be! Didn't expect you'd be able to make a clap cuz of the multiple sawtooth volume env it requires. I was a bit done with this synth, tbh. But this video has inspired an idea to make a track with ONLY Synth1 (I missed know-how to make percussion/drums with this synth before). I think that can be a fun little project (I agree with the notion that limiting stuff can do good, as you're forced to think creatively). CHeers!
@Quadr44t3 жыл бұрын
I didn't finish the video yet. Just started and the chapter: Lysergic acid Diethylamide comin up🤣 subtle 😉 Didn't know that's how you spell Roland butt..... By the way, don't quote me on this. But regarding the last filter, someone once told me it's directly inspired from the 303 (which is a 18 dB 3pole LP I believe). About that gabber synth. It's also possible to make a slightly better one, than the worst one. I accidentally made the synth from "Angerfist's Raise your fist" 🤣 and many other oldskool sounds. But maybe the artists from back then even used Synth1. I think it's really old right? 52:20 So, to get to 303, you first pass hardbass territory.🤔

"it's sound bad by pro vst standards" I dunno... this is kinda the reason i got here. I do not like sound in Vital, Serum and Pigments. It was to "clean" for my taste, so i started looking for something more unique and considering i do not want to sell my kidney for Diva and do not want to pirate it, stumbled upon synth1. Mybe it's me, and you can do this type of sound in Vital, but why if i can just use this? Great video! Very-very-very helpfull.

what are these "PRO VST STANDARDS" that apparently kick synth1's ass?
@emmaessex3 жыл бұрын
pretty much any good VA will have some kind of protection against aliasing, whether it be simple filtering or oversampling. synth1 quickly produces a lot of truly nasty aliasing artifacts if you're looking for clean, bright sounds and produces a lot of super lopsided waveforms when getting down and dirty with pulse with modulation - something else any number of modern VSTs will protect against through filtering. in those cases with synth1 you can just highpass the signal at 20hz, because yes, it will produce all kinds of sub-20hz audio. synth1 is definitely a synth that demands your attention in post, though for most users, it won't be a big deal.

oh and it says what lpdl is: "A new filter "LPDL" has been added in filter section. It is a low-pass filter modeled after the diode ladder mounted on TB303, etc.. It is close to "LP24" Because it is the filter of the fourth order, but it is fat and darker than "LP24" feel. Lower frequency also increase the resonance does not decrease. I think that it fits well in the synth bass. This filter is over-sampling process if the sampling frequency is 44.1/48KHz."
