Green apatite genuine from daniel smith, gives the same vibe! Bright green undertone with darker brown granulation

Schmincke "Ultramarine Finest" doesn't granulate either. They have several variants, so make sure you get the "Finest" version if you try it. Burnt Sienna can be used in landscapes and to dull down other colors; it makes an amazing grey with Ultramarine. Would make a nice olive with Hooker's Green. And coral and peach with Rose.

My top standalone/special colors are -Green Apatite Genuine (Daniel Smith, complex deep green perfect for florals) -Naples Yellow (Schmincke, fairly opaque milky yellow sunshine) -Moonglow & Shadow Violet (Daniel Smith must haves for me - so helpful with shadows and dark neutrals that have some sass and depth) -Dioxazine Purple (Qor, deep dark purple that is beautiful and vibrant + Qor colors run beautifully in wet on wet) -Anthraquinone Blue (M Graham, deep navy beautiful for night skies)

That blue, pink and purple mixed with white...lovely!! Which white was it? My top 5 favorite watercolor paint colors...a very loaded question right as we painters love all the colors, but if I can only pick 5. 1.Quinacridone Megenta, 2. Ultramarine Blue 3. Lemon yellow 4. Phthalo Blue green shade 5. Burnt Umber I feel like I could paint just about anything I want with these colors, but I would really like to add in a warm yellow like Nickel Azo yellow or cadmium yellow. This would help bring in some more warmth to the palette. These seem to be the colors I reach for the most often especially when using a limited palette. Currently, I'm obsessed with the QoR introductory set of 12. I'm super happy with the color selection and the mixing possibilities. The greens I'm getting are stunning! Nickel Azo yellow with Ultramarine Blue are very similar to the first green you mentioned. It's a bit lighter of a olive green than yours but beautiful and has those lovely yellow under tones. I think all of these color in all the brands I have are very similar. My first love is Mei Liang Pretty Excellent, my current new love is QoR, then Paul Rubens, Mission Gold, Daniel Smith. I've been using my QoR set for only about a week and just realized I haven't missed or reached for any of my other favorite go palettes aka Mei Liang Pretty Excellent (it's so great and super affordable). I paint everyday and have been doing all my painting with QoR, the expensive stuff, buts it's just so delightful to paint with. It feels like a friend you just met, but feels like you're know them forever...weird how that works. 😅 Anyway this was fun to think about and answer. I just learned a lot about myself! Now if I could just get faster at painting so I can hit on all these wet on wet moments and master white flowers then I'd be golden. ❤ Now I'd like to ask you a question. Is it worth going through all the things: scan, edit, digitalis, marketing, ect; to sell art on esty, eBay, Amazon, ect as clip art, reprints, printed cards ect. I know my question is even more loaded. But my family could benefit from some extra income, but I don't want to end up making minimum wage for all the work that goes into it. I'm sure you know this better than most as you're in the midst of it currently. I just want to do something from home to help my husband support our family. But I want to do it the smart way. Thanks for all your hard work behind the scenes! Ps congratulations on your health and fitness journey, you look great!

Turner's Quin China Rose (looking for a better one, but fav hue I've found so far) - waiting on my order from DaVinci, going to try red rose deep, the sample seemed promising DaVinci's Burnt Sienna Deep (absolutely adore this one!) Daniel Smith's Hansa Yellow Medium (solid work horse mid yellow) Winsor & Newton's Perylene Violet (great for shadows and tones) DaVinci's Manganese Blue (lovely light granulation, great mixes) Not exactly a complete palette, but the first five on my favorites list.

Yes I think Daniel Smith is the top of them all!! You have your apatite genuine green and you can use this in dark or add water light. That way you only need one green in your pallet. Buff titanium is another good one ut makes good foggy clouds and mist also a good white flower plus use Jaynes grey for shadows. Also another good color is Hematite burnt scarlet genuine this color is great for rocks and sand. I use to use the yellow ochre but this burnt scarlet is great! I also like Verdider blue. Its the perfect blue for skys but yes ultra marine is best for deep ocean look. I'm just experimenting with this Permanent Orange too. I love the opera pink. Thanks 👍. JK FLORIDA USA 🇺🇸

Hullo Emma, You have Lovely colors and I have been enjoying some ROSA watercolors from the Ukraine Colbalt Turquose, Bright Red, Warm Grey, Indantherene Blue, Cad Yellow Light. These 5 are my favorite from the palette I got! Now these are a small set that have not made it onto my main studio palette which has mostly DaVinci watercolors as they have the quality and reasonable price for watercolor paints that you use everyday!
@binnad70917 ай бұрын
I'm currently in a deep dive with Rosa Gallery paints (Ukrainian made). Some of their new colors are absolute magic. For a 3-color primary palette, I can do pretty much everything with: Magenta Rose Azo Yellow Blue (PB15) If I want to get fancy, I'll add Indanthrene, Cobalt Green, and Cad Red Deep (such an intense red). But if you're looking for the most intense violet, theirs is the tops! It spreads on a wet page like nothing I've seen before because they grind their pigments so fine. In mass tone is nearly black. Absolutely amazing color, but I tend to leave it out of a limited palette. I also really like their zinc white as a mixer. It'll create a pale shade without making the mixed color opaque like titanium does.

Quite enjoyed this video.Of all my greens, I dip my brush in DS Green Apatite Genuine most often but also love the undersea green. I just purchased DS Mayan Blue Genuine. I like painting metal objects with a patina and for that reason, it's a wonderful addition to my palette. On another note, if your subscriptions are falling, KZbin unsubscribed me from your channel.

Also Holbein Sap Green (loathe their Hookers though - and I have a lot of greens). MH Moss Green is on my buy list. I nearly put DS Burnt Quin Scarlet instead of the verditer, but you made it 5! 😁

Years ago - when you first got your Winsor & Newton paints (after using the Cotman) I laid out my palette in the exact same order, and haven't changed it to this day. I notice that the palette on your desk appears to have a double line of blues - if I'm not dreaming, what type of palette is this? I like the Michael Harding Olive - it is very similar to one that I have from Terry Harrison called Sunlit Green.
@Deedster567 ай бұрын
OMG Fiona, I did the VERY same and, truth be told, am not a big fan of the palette itself because of the limited space on my desk and the fact that some of the paints from the ‘top’ part of the palette still tend to drop down after the palette has been closed for some time. I now much prefer tin palettes with half or full pans that I can fill. But I’ve got a lot of Winsor & Newton paint to get through before it’s time to re-fill LOL

I searched through a lot of videos of people talking about their favorite colors and decided from there which tubes to buy then I squeezed them into half pans in a palette. I bought a few of the Daniel Smith mini sets like the Jane set has a bunch of their popular and unique colors like green apatite genuine and opera pink. I also love the Qor high chroma set- Qor paints have a unique binder so they really move when used in wet on wet and also they were just beautiful and vibrant I love the dioxazine purple and green gold in that set.
