Whenever I start painting too tight, I’ve started using a timer to help me loosen up again. If I’m taking 15 seconds on a rose or peony, I’ll do drills at 10 seconds, then 5 seconds. Sure it’ll look like a hot mess but I can feel the difference and my painting starts to show that flow again. Hopefully I’m explaining it in a way that makes sense. 😜 Really helps to restore that “loosie~goodie” happy place! 😋

Hi Emma. Love your quick, easy to follow videos. The most frustrating aspect of watercolour work for me is organizing colours in my palette. Yours appear to be grouped in various ways - some different shades/hues of 1 colour, some complimentary groups, some analogous groups. Do you group your warm colours separately from cool? Will you please explain your palette because, despite tons of research, I have never been able to find one that works for me. Thanks so much Linda Paupst
