Yes. I love Flashback Episodes, you learn more about the characters and why they are the way they are. They did a similar Episode in the US on The Soap Opera General Hospital (Megan Markle was an Under Five Line Actress named Jill), where Luke Spencer remembers growing up with his Abusive Drunken Father, Long Suffering Mother and Sister Barbara Jean aka Bobbie and he realized why he did so many bad things.

Well good for you Sport! You did an amazing job! When I look at Cain as an Adult, if could do an American Accent, he would have been perfect as Luke Casteel in The Heaven Series who was so traumatized by the death of his First Wife Leigh aka Angel the best of him went to the Grave while his Family got the worst of him.

@@laminage what the bloody hell, you expect a random bloke on the internet who claims to be somebody, he's probably fake as most actors don't try to draw attention online.

I think Emmerdale is getting much better than Corrie now.
@surgeland90847 жыл бұрын
danielroxheaps Yeah, I never thought I'd say it, but yeah. Corrie keeps trying new things only to fall flat on its face when it fails. Emmerdale, at least, knows what it is and manages to prevail when it experiments, at least with these last few months.
@danielr027 жыл бұрын
I think the problem is that Kate doesn't recognise that the locations, characters and casts aren't the only thing that differentiates these two shows. She seems to have the problem where she needs to have various different, usually major, storylines all going at once, each with a big event. This works better with Emmerdale than Coronation Street, as Emmerdale is much more dramatic, and has been since Stuart Doughty became producer in 1988 (who also oversaw the transition from EDF to ED in Nov 1989), having had a few less births, more abortions, more miscarriages, more deaths, more crashes, more explosions etc. I don't know who decides which producer goes on which show but whoever is doing it isn't doing a good job (Iain (Emmerdale) is OK but nothing compared to past producers)
@surgeland90847 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they are pretty different in tone. Corrie could always get dark, but it was always to serve a purpose, and it wasn't a regular thing. Emmerdale kind of hides behind how dark it can get sometimes, but it has a good amount of well-written characters and storylines, if you look for them. The problem is, like you said, Corrie is starting to hide behind edgy storylines that feel like they were written by a teenager. They're even worse than the storylines on Emmerdale with similar problems.

Looking back on this makes me feel so bad for Faith. Like, she’s a mess and she has done bad things but she’s also been abused by her husband and hated by her children her whole life. She goes about things the wrong way a lot of the time, but her intentions are good, and she tries to make up for the mistakes she’s made. She’s a good person.

Yes, this was a very powerful episode because you discover that yes there are two sides to every story and what happened "then" has a harrowing affect on what happens "now". In 2006, on The US Soap Opera Guiding Light Olivia Spencer goes back to her hometown to "heal". It had alot of bad memories for her because after her Mother told her not to go out to a party that she wasn't even invited to, she disobeyed. She was Sixteen and in the beginning had the time of her life since she met a Young Man who was part of The "Posh" Crowd. He swept her off of her feet, she had too much to Drink, he raped her she got pregnant and when she told her Mother she died of a Stroke. For over Twenty Years Olivia blamed herself, and went after one Man after another none of which really loved her and the ones who did love her she managed to drive away because she didn't feel she deserved to be loved. The Young Man who raped her thought it was consensual and when he realized what he did he was ashamed. He changed his name identity and he knew that if he stepped out of line (He was pretending to be a Prince since he looked so much like the "Real" one a Doppelganger so to speak) he'd be ruined. He did apologize and the two made peace but it wasn't until Olivia found love with a Woman she was truly happy.

@rorymckernan5026 жыл бұрын
We always knew he had a violent past. It was mentioned quite a lot. I always thought Zak was abusive. Zak only beat his children, if they stepped out of line. Sam mentioned that when he was younger, he misbehaved and Zak gave him a hiding. Also Zak beat Butch with his belt, when Butch stepped out of line. Zak beat his children if they misbehaved, he didn’t do it all the time, whereas Shadrach did it all the time for no reason.
@morningstar65524 жыл бұрын
Rory McKernan : I agree it’s wrong, but alcohol is disease, it turns people into monsters. Shadrach was an alcoholic, he was a perfectly nice (if a tad lackadaisical, useless and idle) when he wasn’t drinking, he mellowed out somewhat in his later life.
