This special episode of Emmerdale shows in the life of a dementia as Ashley Thomas finds himself in the street alone after doing a runner in the hospital.

it’s a real shame that emmerdale has deteriorated in quality again, a few years ago their blend of cast and crew (especially the writers) made the show one of the best on tv. they hit the jackpot with this storyline and the robert/aaron relationship

I remember what an excellent episode this was. Upsetting to watch, as my dear late mum was suffering with vascular dementia at the time. I wonder if Ashley was imagining the record shop guy to be DJ John Peel as a young man...? The resemblance was quite striking - and John Peel himself was famously a big fan of the Undertones

Boy isn't it amazing how much things changed for him. He's a Vicar, Marries Bernice then Laurel, then takes in his Niece Jasmine who indirectly causes his house to burn down. He loses his Son to SIDS, then "Marries" Folks and does Eulogies and their Funerals, he was always the voice of reason and help to folks like Zoe Tate and now he has Dementia. My Uncle's Late Mother had it and she was blind and had a leg amputated due to her diabetes. He'd go to visit her, and she'd scream at him to get out of her Room (She lived in a Retirement Home) thinking he was going to attack her, he put on a brave face but he was heartbroken. When she died, he felt guilty because he felt he didn't do enough when he went beyond the realm of helping her. Since his Sisters lived in other Parts Of The States & Canada he was the only one to be her caretaker.

didn’t notice originally, but if you freeze it at 3.32 Ashley has a card in his wallet telling anyone like the record seller that he has dementia.

No definitely not.If it was Diane she wouldn`t have checked him for ID and she probably would have addressed him as Ashley.

He is walking around in his pyjamas in reality, but his dementia thinks he’s wearing normal clothes, his dementia has him thinking things that are not real
