I like to believe, the reason I never heard about these 2 in the rhythm section, is because they landed their ship for this concert and left just after. ❤❤❤ so good!!!!

This is wonderful!!!!!! What a swingin rhythm section the bass player is out of this world solid and tight and the drummer is the best I have heard in years, what a quartet ! Superb musicianship and excellent progressive ideas from each section.

I’ve been trying to find what brand that guitar is for a bit, but I’m struggling. I’ve seen Kurt Rosenwinkle play one as well, and I figure it could be a boutique brand? Looks almost like guild, but I’ve never seen their logo like that. Anyone have any idea?

Serious question: what do they do to the harmony to make it less sound like your typical 12 bar blues??
@loganwilliams49372 жыл бұрын
As far as i know they are sometimes, especially the bassist, substituting the standard blues chords with alternate harmonies that indicate the same over arching harmonic progression of tonic-dominant but they are always making sure that it fits within the 12 bars of the blues and returning back to the tonic chord at the repeat of the form especially when things get especially out there. It doesn't help that they are playing it at least 240 bpm
@elboganisimo2 жыл бұрын
they accentuate the extension notes of chords, they start or end phrases in those notes too. following Miles' concept: "dont play the butter notes"; the third or seventh of the chord.

Yeah way out & swinging. Gilad's opening solo sets all the other soloists to continue in the same groove. After Gilad's solo Emmet's look & shaking of his head at Gilad acknowledging a great solo says it all.

Can anybody help me please. I am an enthusiastic semi-professional musician and I play bass in a covers band, we gig a lot. We just do rock n roll standards though and it's all pretty basic, as is my playing (roots, fifths, sevenths, thirds etc)... This is obvs another level though. I love it but I don't, so to speak, get it. Anybody able to help? My questions are whether it's just me or if it kind of gets crazier and crazier as it goes (in a good way) and at the start is Gilad playing in a very loose time signature? How does Obed know when to come in??? I am very keen to develop and learn, any help, advice gratefully appreciated. Also please can anybody recommend other stuff to listen to? I like The Black Saint and The Sinner Lady, Keith Jarrett, Bill Evans, Miles Davis on Kind of Blue... But these are all things I've kind of stumbled across- I don't know where to look for the good stuff.
@joey67619 ай бұрын
hey! at the start gilad is playing rubato, or out of time. obed knows he's going to be coming in soon because gilad plays the first phrase of the melody a few times. i'm fairly certain obed just cues with his drum fill then and gilad catches this and follows him. the music does get crazier as it goes on! this is a very modern approach to a classic jazz song, and it ventures into more free jazz territory as it goes on. if you liked this, i recommend checking out the thelonious monk version from the album of the same name 'straight, no chaser'. if you liked how crazy it got, check out 'the shape of jazz to come' by ornette coleman, 'my favourite things' by john coltrane, and 'mosaic' by art blakey and the jazz messengers. jazz is such a massive genre that it can be overwhelming to find an album or artist to start with, so my advice is just start anywhere! you can't go wrong, and just keep listening to stuff you like. buy cds! hope this helped

Encore et encore les masques?...les gens en revienne juste pas!!...mais quelle drive d'enfer dans ce quartet!!...
@lieutenantcolumbo1142 жыл бұрын
Respirons :)
@lieutenantcolumbo1142 жыл бұрын
