So sad that Book Depository has closed. I could always guarantee that this ‘hard to find’ books were always there for me. I just spent $147 on one book - a biography about a Hungarian music education pedagogue. Well worth it.

One of the best sci romance I’ve read is one that literally reads like a poem. It’s so beautiful and jarring and a wonderful mixture of nature and space. It’s how to lose the time war and I’d take a bullet for it. It swings between a narrative and a letter exchange format it’s super good.

This maybe a highly unpopular opinion but I’m so exhausted with romance taking over YA and other Fantasy/ Science Fiction. I really just want strong world building, great characters and lots of magic and action.

Looking at the stupid-ass ACOTAR map I would also like to point out that "Hybern" sounds suspiciously like "Hibernia" which is the Latin name for Ireland - and it also looks rather familiar on the map... (I have not read the book but clearly that is just Ireland)

Highly recommend World of Books for ordering cheaper, secondhand and new books. I've been buying from them for years, and they've been great. They're also more eco-friendly as a company (as far as I've been able to tell) and have a very small carbon offset charge to orders. Just a thought for anyone mourning Book Depository's death lol.

Kirk : What do you think, Spock? Spock : I think that the idea of sci-fi romance is very strange for an individual like me who seeks permanent non-emotional states of mind. Kirk : No, I mean Emma smelling books like an old fine wine. I did that when I found my copy of Gibbons. Spock : In fact, Captain, you are not the only one to do that but the habit is mostly lost nowadays. Kirk : Why, Spock, why? Spock : Because it is not logical nor practical to smell an electronic tablet. But a book ? There is a range of informations you can get by smelling it. Kirk : Fascinating. Spock : Please Captain, this my line.

Rewatching and I just had to say, if you’re into Cinderella retelling AVOID the one The Shadow in the Glass. Oh my gosh it was awful! Insufferable main character with barely any tie backs to the original fairytale. It wanted to be its own thing but ignores the most interesting subplot/background it started then just never touched. Ugh! I can’t wait to hear how you like A Single Thread of Moonlight though!
