Generally how often the supports have the ability to heal is taken out of the equation. If someone's diving them, teammates are feeding, enemy isn't doing much, nobody's in your LoS, other support is popping off, etc. It can be a bit frustrating.

Overwatch is about quality over quantity. Sadly a lot of people don’t realize that so when they see number go bigger they think it’s better. But a lot of the time it’s wasted like shooting a tank, only getting a couple kills between fights but not during, etc. it’s the timing of the fight that matters

Sometimes that happens. You get frustrated, start playing worse which makes you even more frustrated, you start to make more mistakes and blame your teammates, and the game goes progressively less in your favor.

What I will say though as a player who also plays doom constantly is that he tends to shoot the tank a lot which is fine when there isn’t an opportunity for you to go in, but it’s better to ignore them and go straight for the back line and then head back out if it doesn’t work out, then go back in when ready. So situations such as when he was shooting the Orisa could’ve been used on getting into the back line where it will force enemies to play into you and force them back. Then you could escape and basically you just created space by forcing pressure on supports or dps I also want to point out that there needs to be more quicker cancels between slam and punch just so it makes it harder for enemies to read your movements and react accordingly, but that will come with time. Overall, not bad.

Idk u guys ranks so dont flame me if im lower ELO than u and giving advice but im a masters doom OTP for the most part, I have around a 65 to 70% winrate but i dont play much so im not climbing and getting much better. 1) Doomfist is a very solo tank, you do NOT need to pump heals into him to be effective as he can generate sheilds, has high movement, and a block to reduce damage. 2) I typically poke the tank abit from mid range if I dont see a good dive opportunity, simply to maintain pressure. 3) Before you go in for a punch you should ask yourself “can I punch them into a wall?” if no, then dont take the risk and maybe just slam in then punch out for ult charge and over sheilds (even empowered punch is weak without a wall behind someone so dont go for it). 4) Ult is good for follow up on a good dive engagement as it slows enemies, gives a ton of overhealth and deals enough damage for an empowered punch to be a death sentence, I dont use it much for escape but its fully valid and depends on the enemy team comp (AOE heals with good escape options like bap and kiriko make it a better option as an escape or disruption tool from my experience). 5) Melee is the most powerful part of your kit, if u see a low ho enemy ( around 60hp or so) dont be afraid to melee them 2 or 3 times as its easier than hitting your gun and people tend to prioritise survival and escape rather than winning a 1v1 vs a tank so they strafe alot and try to run. 6) Use primary fire between every ability as long as its safe to do so since it auto reloads and can widdle down enemies and makes them laughably easy to kill unless they get healed mid dive. 7) Practice getting headshots since doom damage is pretty weak without it. Now for my personal playstyle I hate the “go in then out then in then out” gameplay cause it feels like my team and the enemy team are playing hot potato with me, instead i either dive then lurk in the back to distract them (like a flanking tracer or moira or sombra making you turn around alot), and if they start to ignore me I dive them and its almost always a free kill. Also rollout doomfist isnt horrible if you can manage an escape after securing some damage or a pick, otherwise its a throw. TLDR: most important thing is to build over shield and make sure all your offensive punches are against a wall or else its useless. P.S body blocking with doomfist is very effective when you can just get behind an overextending tank and stand there.

I think the issue from the Ana's perspective is that there are 4 teammates that are going to be all over the map and she doesn't feel like she can heal everyone because you got a pharah, genji, doomfist and a mercy. And any given time she probably has LOS of 1 person, so they think the mercy should be getting more heals than them and keeping all these flankers alive when they are out of LOS. Obviously the Ana can swap or get better positioned, but this is gold and I don't expect that from a gold player. Also for much of the game the Orisa is just blowing straight into the backline and the only person who can't escape is the Ana, so it makes it even more frustrating for that person.

5:17 They blocked too late here. With the 80% damage reduction there was enough health to survive the Bomb with the Overhealth. But the Reaper got a shot in before Doom blocked, which dropped his health to low enough where Bomb would kill. It's still pretty stupid though, as couching behind the cart would've avoided the damage, and sacking 200HP (at least) for a charged punch was not worth it in this situation.

I think there is a difference between “overextending” and “overstaying your welcome”. I think his engagement range was good, very rarely overextending by Doom standards. But like when he tried to re-engage with less than 200hp, he’s overstaying. At that point he needs to retreat and get healed or go for a health pack.

As a perpetual gold player the Ana is the only player I would have any serious complaints about, because that was not generally a team comp where Ana was going to have a good time, especially with gold level aim. It seemed like she was often dying quite early in lost fights because she was the only actual target for most of the enemy team to shoot at. Picking a support with a bit more mobility (Kiriko in particular) would have been what I would have done/wanted in a comp like that.

Kiriko main here, While she does have a lot of mobility, her healing output isn't enough to keep a doomfist alive. While she's good for a dive dps, like Echo, Junkrat, Genji, etc etc ... a dive tank would have to stand around awkwardly waiting to have full hp from her (it's an amusingly awkward scenario) which is fine in qp, but more of an inconvenience in ranked. If you wanted both Mobility and enough healing output to sustain a Doomfist, Baptiste would probably be a better character to pick than Kiriko. But if Ana keeps high ground she can also sustain a doomfist.

I have on ashe the voiceline of 'that's what you get the girl who had everything' for when a mercy latches onto to me. I have had a game where I got basically the perma pocket treatment on ashe from a mercy. Every time I got a pick she said 'Zuper'' (superb in german), every time I misses like allot of bullets in a row she would say 'you know, sometimes im not sure why I even bother' and when I got logged by a hanzo she would say 'you know, I'm not a miracle worker' it was funny as hell. We played a couple of games together. At some point she typed in chat to slow down on the HS and kills when i bobbed cous she couldn't keep up with the voiceline wheel lol.

as a high gold support myself i see absolutely nothing wrong with the way that doom and mercy played this game. tbh, i would LOVE to have a doom this good in any of my games; he rarely overextended and even if he did he almost always realised it right away and tried to get out, he didn't go for the risky plays into the enemy backline that would leave his team vulnerable to an aggressive orisa, he paid close attention to his hp and cds and made sure to get back in easy range of heals when he got low... i honestly legitimately think this doom can get to diamond no problem, maybe even masters with a bit more practice in ranked. that ana must have been tilted from a previous game or something bc there was absolutely nothing worth getting upset about.

I know why his team was complaining, because it was competitive and people love to point fingers the second they face any adversity. That Anna looked at her healing numbers and said "It can't be ME. I'm healing A LOT! It has to be one of my teammates who is screwing us over." Mercy's numbers aren't as high as mine. PROBLEM. Our tank is playing Doomfist, HUGE PROBLEM. Why is he not playing a META tank!?!?! And then the flame war begins. This is why I don't play competitive. I only play Quickplay. I have hundreds of hours in QP, only a few in CP. I basically, played enough to get one gold weapon and I had enough. Not that QP is a safe haven from the unhinged playerbase, but at least they can't complain about losing "rank". Although, technically QP has it's own "rank" I would imagine. The numbers do not represent the quality of your play. PERIOD.

It's good and healthy growth to recognize when a teammate is performing their role better in your own rank so you know how to support/follow up more confidently. people just love to blame someone else in this game even when everyone on both teams are doing good at their jobs..in gold they see mercy low heals and think that means they're performing badly when thats literally where she should be at if there is an ana, who pumps heals in to a tank, especially when she has pharah and echo to look after. but people don't see it objectively or have the knowledge in this rank of how things work beyond big numbers = good. the doom definitely has diamond potential but it takes a team. I wish more people understood its a team game, one team has to lose, it doesn't mean they suck, its just...how it is, especially the higher you climb. I see more people being respectful of enemies plays that way the more aware you become of surroundings

As a support player and specifically a Mercy Main, I understand the pain of being yelled at for "not healing enough" compared to our second support. People just fail to take into account the fact that so many factors play into how much healing you have at the end of the game. That being how much healing the second support is doing, whether teammates are straight up feeding, if you're being los'd constantly, if the enemy team is even doing enough damage to add up to a high healing output etc. People just need someone to blame and unfortunately they will just always pick the person with the lowest numbers without considering why their numbers might logically be low outside of just "ur bad omegalul"

He’s playing fine, but they want a tank that acts as a buffer between them & the enemy team. They collectively think that doom fist is the worst tank and will never work in a fight. As a Master tank playing a lot of doomfist, I can say that he has the same problem as the lower ranks players. On defense, his playstyle was pretty good I will admit, nothing to say there. On attack though, his attention was mostly on the Orisa, one of doom biggest threat. I'm not saying that he should not try to kill the Orisa, but picking the aggro of the support/DPS on the other team should have been the play. Orisa will have less tankiness on her, forcing her to give up her space to go back to her team or try to catch up to the doomfist. Overall, I will say that this player was pretty good for a gold player and his team was good also, I'm pretty sure he can climb

Also something I noticed: that Ana is playing like she's a Reinhardt, no wonder she's tilting. Doom played really well though, really refreshing to see someone keep it up against Orissa and still succeed.

The only thing I really see is that doom went more for the dps and tank, rather than targeting the supports. Target choices make a huge difference. You can see times where the team got bastion/orisa down to one shot, but got healed immediately because they left the supports alone

Me and my brother play support duo sometimes. I’ll play Anna and he’ll play mercy for some comps. If we have a doom, it is absolutely not the mercy’s job to dive with the doom if he’s pocketing a flying character or a ranged dps. His main prerogative is to keep the dps boosted and alive and to keep me alive. I sit there and shoot the doom in the butt the entire time he’s in deep. Once he’s back, we both top him off, too the team off and go back in.

The Ana def sounds like one of those players that thinks heal numbers are important. I saw a good mix of heals/dmg boost from the mercy

Anna sounds like those players that expect EVERY Doom to just solo entire teams with ease and if they dont they are bad. seen so many players like that

most of the time when you play doom, if you cant perform in the first seconds everybody thinks you are throwing and flame you early on. i often get that too then ill switch to my second main(orisa) which is easier to consistently perform well and then switch back.

there's a mental aspect to climbing, people in lower ranks often let themselves tilt when they don't need to. That might be part of the problem here.

There is no understanding the arguments that happen in metal ranks. Even in Plat, people will blame each other for why they're having a bad time, whether your team is winning or losing.

Ofc this doom was playing very well, barely missed anything and he deserves a hiegher rank. But,, tbh he almost had all his blocks charged, this is a game changer for doom, when not a single enemy stops shooting when you block doom becomes so powerful

@@Fuphu The javelin damage counts in charging the empowered punch??? I never knew but even so a good orisa will throw it once you block so you don't get a chance to charge anything before it

@@Ahmad_Jihad True, but if the doomfist is also good they can get abit of damage ahead of time to charge it, at that point it depends on the orisa's teammates and if t hey're doo doo dumb or not (i'd save it for when doom dives since its on a low cooldown)

Doom and ball players are the hardest to heal but this doom feels like he won’t get out of los. I hope he ranks up cause he is really good

I mean as a mercy player the ana always heals the team full and I can barely heal so having 2k healing is ok but at least she is damage boosting and not putting out the pistol

People like that Ana are the reason I stopped playing ranked mode in most games. I used to work at two different call center jobs when I was younger, so I've pretty much used up all my patience for stupid, toxic people.

Idk what that Ana was on, the Doom was really good and the Mercy was fine from what I could tell, she was using both damage and healing beam like she should.
