Really interesting to hear Rob Green’s take on the No.1 spot being clear before the tournament starts. There’s a lot of debate around whether Pope or Ramsdale start for England too, but for me, Pickford has deserved to stay as No.1 for a long time now. He’s never put a foot wrong for England and is in great form too. I think changing the GK now (unless something drastic happens) would be a risk. The back four are used to Pickford behind them. I'm still blown away by how many people were making 4-0 predictions for the game. They were/are just totally out of touch with what kind of team the USMNT is. Sure, they're not going to get good results regularly against European competition, but it's highly unlikely that you're going to see them get blown off the field.
@lostagain7292 Жыл бұрын
That was honestly a fair assessment. The English team was leagues above the us squad. Problem is, just like they do, the brits were looking ahead and the yanks were seeing it as an audition to play in the prem.
@zkeletonz001 Жыл бұрын
@@lostagain7292 It really wasn't though. The team under Berhalter never scored much, but they never gave up a lot of goals either. If you look at the history of the US against top level competition it's rare to see them get blown off the field. Even in years past when the talent level was lower than it is now. And no one was looking at it as an audition to play in the premier league--almost everyone on the team was already playing in europe and five of them were in the premier league. They were playing for the US.
