"A brain injury is the only time that we ask the injured body part to regulate itself..." How are emotions affected after brain injury? What are some "tells" for when a brain injury survivor is getting emotionally overwhelmed? Let's talk about it! In this clip, Cristabelle is joined by Rebecca Quinn and Carly Endres from North Dakota Brain Injury Network.

I had anxiety, depression and PTSD before I sustained my brain injury. Now, I also have to deal with brain fog and sensory issues and to make matters worse, I live in the urban jungle of NYC. I am overloaded on every level imaginable.

Mitchell. Get the best medical attention you can afford as fast as possible . Sometimes there is nothing they can do for you however in 2023 Neurologist can do amazing things. A specialist might be able to sort out your problem

I have a lot of frontal lobe damage, as well as, some temporal lobe damage. Learning so much from these video casts. Tears fill my eyes, knowing that I don't have to feel as though I am losing my mind. Thank you all in this episode for bringing the enlightenment that I think so many of us need

Frontal lobe damage from accident from 2004 and still trying to figure it out. Flat affect when I need to show more and outburst when I should have not shown more. Not crying at funerals but crying when in isn’t a normal crying moment. Once in a while for a moment it’s like the old way of thinking becomes at least observable and just as quick as it observed it is lost. It is very tiring.

This is a subject that doesn't seem to get covered, thank you so much for discussing it. Its so hard to understand why some days some little thing can just set of an emotional tantrum. Especially when that was not something you ever did before.

I’m really enjoying your channel as I care 24/7 for my TBI loved one. Thank you. I’m actually encouraging him to share his journey through music and experiences, too. Someday soon-but we are still trying to find the best care for him.

"A brain injury is the only time that we ask the injured part to regulate itself any other part like if you break your leg it"s your brain that helps you regulate how much you use that leg, if you pull a muscle its the brain that regulates that. But with a brain injury we are asking the other body part to do the heavy lifting and sometimes that doesn't always work." Also love the explanation and coining of the term "JUSTIFIABLE PARANOIA". I mean THAT!!! So true.

I struggle with emotions, especially anger... I love to build model cars as a hobby but I am not sure if I will be able to build them anymore because I have a difficult time regulating my anger and emotions.. my Nurse Practioner just adjusted my meds and hopefully I will be able to do the hobby I love.... Sad😢...

I had a very bad day yesterday and wound up in the ER due to dysregulation... I likely will stay in bed in my apartment all day so I don't have to deal with a world that I feel is out to get me... Sad😢...

Getting my routine knocked off is huge for me. I always get up at the same time every day....super early because it's quiet and I can actually concentrate....then I plan my day. If my wife throws a wrench into my plan, it can ruin my entire day. Even if it's something simple like running to the store for milk.

@LadyPizzaCrust It could help you to have an MRI so your neurologist can show you where you may have damage. And also neuropsychological testing so that you can better understand where your brain is at. It's hard. Try to show yourself grace❤

When she s 8:53 they .. “stop and think”… well it’s because of the brain injury that they don’t have that ability to stop and think … isn’t it? So wouldn’t saying that to them trigger them and make them feel worse ?
