+Specter Makoto Your perception of time is fairly rigid and difficult to change without drugs or invasive means. Even if you did change your mind along the lines you're talking about, there could be unhealthy consequences like overworking your neural network.

This is amazing. I have this idea for this one application/program for this. It probably exists already, but it would be like a sort of 3d modeling program, and if you think about something, you can mold that shape into existence, and you could create simulations, animations, or levels for video games with your mind.

Depends on how precise the device is. Apparently each action you have to program. So you have to hold that thought and that brain pattern is saved for that action you designated it to. The more and longer you calibrate it the easier and faster the program picks it up is what they showed in the 2007 video. So I would assume you could calibrate a HUGE amount of actions for hands free computer use but it is limited by how fast the device can register clearly these thoughts/actions. I assume it possibly might not be fast enough currently since the technology is somewhat new and there is no physical contact with electrodes like with high end medical equipment machines. But I bet if enough research is put into it, it could be developed enough to where it could register fast enough with complex multiple actions at once. Which would be sooooo awesome. But as it is, it totally seems up to par for handicap people and basic singular functions that could really change their life. Like turning on lights in a room, controlling temp, unlocking and opening their front door if there is a special machine hooked up, moving a wheel chair around, calling 911 on a speed dial or just calling anyone in general and writing a prerecorded message to be played over the phone even though it would be letter by letter and slow. Those are massive things for say a paraplegic who can't even talk or move. Omg it would change their world. Shocked it's taking so long actually if it was marketed towards that they'd have huge funding I bet and it would really advance this technology faster for us who want to use it for fun like video games and typing faster lol.

+TayTheEpicGamer They aren't far off from being able to implant signals into the brain, they have enabled blind people to see using sophisticated brain implants to the ability to see through a cameras lens. They just need to find a way to effect the brain remotely and in such a way that it doesn't cause cancer or brain damage. =D The Neurophone actually implants audio bypassing the ear and the inner ear, truly deaf can hear with a neurophone. But if the person is nerve death, due to dead nerves... then no, the neurophone may not work for them. The neurophone works on a vibration principal in that your skin can transmit sound via ultrasonic transducers straight to the brain. The idea is the vibration matches the "carrier wave" of the nerve and portions of the brain that deal with sound processing, process it and interpret it as sound with a little practice you can expand the range of sound you can hear. Some people believe the neurophone helps develop ESP.

+buddy wuggle It's also a price of an average smartphone people buy every 2-3 years. Also, the hardware is remarkably simple. There's no reason it couldn't cost $30 eventually, at higher production numbers and with a more competitive field. But it needs to have a proven usefulness for that to happen. Aaand no, cars obviously don't cost $300, in the simplest car there's thousands upon thousands worth of material and workmanship cost alone - it's a big and complex thing. What you get for $300 is an olde bucket which can cost thousands to repair in a few months - people are scared of such expenses, this is why they try to get rid of these things before they turn into money pits, before they have to pay to get rid of them. Also in many countries the car insurance costs at least that much a year.

Why do people keep mentioning SAO, its not how this works at all. Nerve gear intercepted and read electrical signals to your muscles to apply into the game and prevent you from moving in real life. This only can read brain scans, kinda like a cat scan or something. Not at all reading your muscle signals, that would be something like Myo or something else that reads signals to the muscles...

Texting by thinking In addition to 5G, phones are now available with the option of texting by thought power alone.* This is achieved by a combination of eye-tracking technology and a sensor-mounted headset worn by the user. The headset contains a wireless brain-machine interface, which detects electrical brain waves and converts them into digital signals, then displays the resulting letters on-screen.* Some high-end models can be used with glasses or visors featuring displays built into their lenses. This enables completely hands-free texting, creating a form of virtual telepathy. The process is relatively slow at this stage, requiring a high degree of mental concentration. It is more of a novelty for now. However, advances in subsequent years enable smooth and fast interactions, revolutionising the world of communication.

Muse Headset, Oculus Rift, Eye tracker Tech, I think combining these things would really help with what you guys do. First you combine the oculus rift with eye tracker tech, then you put a video in the oculus rift, then you record the minds reaction to what it sees. I mean that is just how I would go about it. I would use people who can focus well, not people with ADD like myself, who's mind would wonder off.

Mage Enderman I mean if you've ever watched sword art online you'd notice that they seem to move in the game the same way they would in real life, of course there may be safety concerns in using the technology necessary for this but that's what beta testing is for, actually that's what pre beta testing is for.

Wait, guys? I'm a little confused here. HOW did that car move? We already know the amazing headset did it but- didn't the car have to have some kinda chip or whatever that would make it understand what signals the headset is sending?? HAALP

I find it interesting that the first thing ppl think about when watching this SAO. They dont think about helping anyone else but themselves to the wonders this product can do for mentally challenged individuals or for disabled vets.

Is trying to shame people on KZbin taking the high road then?

@Eristophiel 9 жыл бұрын
aerowenn reminding people that theres more to the world than anime fantasies is taking the high road, however trying to attack someone for pointing it out most certainly isnt. I am curious however what kind of person it takes to be, to attack someone that only wants to point out the many benefits a device like this would help people.

Ashton Von Helst Attack? If a rhetorical question is considered attack, then we have became way too PC and sensitive as a species. People can discuss or think about whatever they want, if helping disadvantaged isn't the first thing that comes to mind, that's unfortunate, but approaching it by saying "I find it interesting..." might as well say "You all are a bunch of selfish bastards." That's really going to win the minds of the people. I have a disabled/special needs daughter. I'm always looking for things to improve her life, but I'm not going to look down on people for not making it their first priority.

wow, amazing tech; I see a value in controlling devices and even prosthetic limbs and the like. It was also cool to see the signals branching out through the brain. It doesn't look to me that we only use a small part of the brain, I saw most of the brain being used; so for me that is a new observation. Am I wrong about that?

HOLY SHIT!!! ARTIFICIAL TELEKINESIS!!! Why stop with wheelchair? create a robotic exoskeleton and wire it to respond to the brainwaves so that those paralyzed or even with prosthetics can control their bodies like normal. It will also be fun/funny to yoink those people's headset and start making them do stuff they down want.

This as a main CPU Interface hardwired to a main control for a ship or any type of vehicle that we design can be maneuvered just with thought or sidelined thought. It would be possible to multitask on like GOD level and leave the actual body free of work load and wear and tear on the person period. No joint pain back sore feet . All you would have to do to be a captain of a ship is have previous knowledge of shipping laws and maritime traffic law and a GPS. Just lay there and pilot your vessel want with just a thought.

Wouldn't a wired version of this be better in sending commands to the device ? Also why isn't anyone making a game that can fully help people in using their minds better, like, let's say........ an fps where even hands and fingers and even looking around, crouching,sprinting, sniping and stuff etc. Need a lot of practice in mastering. I can see this as a device that can help many things too. But gaming might help the creators of this device better understand the mind in my opinion. Full immersion in a different world where you dont have to move your body too much.

Shred Xorn because sword art online actually took place in a video game, if you haven't watched it I'd recommend it, it's on crunchyroll, hulu, Netflix, kissanime, etc. I watched most of it on hulu.
@Tyler-Kearney
@Tyler-Kearney 8 жыл бұрын
Shred Xorn the only thing that I found not believable in sao was the fact that there were only 10,000 players. Log horizon has the same issue, only 30,000 players. Most mmorpgs have over 100,000 players, and if sao is such a big deal that it's on the news and everything it would have far more players.

+The Shadow Devil Slayer I think you dont understand what a server is. it's not work like that. different areas can't be in a different server. maybe what you are trying to say is different instance of the game server or just simply different channel of a server. different map with different channel can be done aswell.
