Trym Thorson(Kai Johnny Mosaker) for me one of the greatest drummer of all eras... Ihsahn one of the best black metal composers of all eras... The final result is simple, Emperor turns one of greatest bands from norway to eternity.

Samoth deserves a lot of praise too. I think Samoth is perfect with the way he compliments the rythm section with those masterfully crafted leads of Ihsahn. Really a duo unlike any other.

I think it's a pale teal Aristides with Fishman Fluence pickups, actives that can have quite a lot of gain, very clear tone (also splittable to single coils). So yeah, not your average Tele, this has much more options and control. I doesn't sound to me like he's using the single coil sound, though indeed you could tweak it with gain and EQ to be like a humbuker, but why bother if you already have them on board?

Dude. Big props to Munkeby on With Strength I Burn. When I saw them in Dallas Texas last year, his harmonizing was much more toned down. It would seem HE is the one who found his Strength for this performance!! Fantastic. Made it sound a lot more like the Wacken 2006 performance. I'm gonna be watching this video a lot now. =)

Back in somewhere 1993-94, Emperor was the FIRST blackmetal band (of the second wave, "Scandinavian wave") I listened to...I bought a CD of. What a music, what a power, energy, horror and beauty! Now I am 55, still listening to this unique genre and seeking the bands pulling the (inteligent) limits further.
