A word of caution regarding doing an Electric monotype run in Unova... whilst it's true that Emolga will render Clay's Ground Type attacks completely useless, I believe at least two of his Pokemon are also packing Rock type moves, which will definitely complicate matters. Immunity doesn't really count for much when you've got a squashed squirrel. That being said, if you have White 2, Elekid can learn Low Kick, a fighting move that will definitely help against Krokorok and Excadrill. Just don't lead with it, as Krokorok starts by immediately lowering your attack with intimidate.

@@emperorcubone The same reason they make different versions at all. Same reason trade evolutions exist. To make players interact with each other if they want to get everything out of a game. Players interacting with other players leads to healthy community growth. Healthy community growth leads to a bigger fanbase. A bigger fanbase means more sales. If the games could be 100% completed without other players, I don't think pokemon would've even made it outside of japan.

Actually, in Gold and Silver, evolving Eevee into Jolteon and/or Pikachu into Raichu isn't viable for a playthrough because one cannot obtain a Thunder Stone until reaching Bill's Cottage in Kanto, and even then you can only get ONE per playthrough. In Crystal though, one can get Thunder Stones from one of the NPC trainers you can exchange phone numbers with.

I've been playing through X and Y with Monotypes since January. For Electric, despite having Mega Ampharos and a Pikachu I bred to have Volt Tackle holding a Light Ball, the MVP was Emolga by being a Nuzzle, Encore, and Volt Switch spamming nuisance with a Ground immunity. The rest of the team was Lanturn, Heliolisk, and Rotom who can be any appliance he wants (and he's named after Technus from Danny Phantom).

Hey, another video idea haha..... Might be a bit epic, and largely pointless as it maybe doesn't need wholesale changes but have you ever considered re-writing the the type chart and altering the matchups? Obviously quite a few make sense (Fire strong against Grass, Water strong against Fire, Electric strong against Water etc....) so they would likely remain but I think I could be interesting to almost start again and see how different it looks if you were to re-do all the type matchups and then consider what the "best" type is (whatever best means to you). Just a thought. Thanks for the consistent content :)

I feel like including what could be hatched in another game and traded in with each area is a consideration. As if I have access to trading and another game I can and do prep before a new play trough with specially made eggs - focusing in egg moves typically but also for access to species unavailable to catch until later. This effects how I do new and challenge runs! Fun video thanks. Honestly I think scarlet and violet are best for electric only (especially with trading/eggs from another game or Pokémon home as options not JUST what you literally catch in an in game play through) I really love wattrel and kilawattrel and belibolt is strong. Even more with the DLC!
@emperorcubone3 ай бұрын
Well trading over options basically makes the whole idea pointless because then Kanto would be perfectly fine, getting to use Electabuzz and Zapdos from the very beginning!
@valasafantastic10553 ай бұрын
@@emperorcubone no I mean level appropriate! Such as catching a mareep in silver to trade into crystal. I mean hatching a LV 1-5 and trading it into a new play trough. Giving more reasonable options not op or overleveled. Maybe breeding an egg move or a few good IVs but it’s traded in at LV 1-5. I’m sure I’m not the only person consistently doing this for playthroughts! Each game and region still has limits for this. Emerald is Helen DEX only BUT you have all options available right from the start in Ruby or Sapphire! It really effects things! Not overleveled OP certainly not legendary (typically) just babies!

Mono Electric in Platinum was rough, but with Bite and lots of patience, you can get through the first gym easy enough. Pachirisu gets Hyper Fang which definitely helps it with its damage output. Specific to Platinum, you can get Rotom after you beat Gardenia, which is another rough gym…if it weren’t for the fact that with only two Pokémon on your team, you actually outlevel her team by around 4-5 levels. Aside from that, Byron’s Steelix, Candace’s Mamoswine, Bertha’s Gliscor, and Cynthia’s Garchomp are the only actual threats in the game. Grass Knot can only do so much after all.

Huh… I had the impulse a few weeks ago to try a monotype run in Galar. For some reason I wanted to do Bug, because it felt like it would be a proper challenge. Honestly, aside from a few early hiccups (Nessa was unusually hard for my early team), it’s been pretty fun. I now realize it was probably your earlier videos in this series that planted the idea, most likely. Right now, the final team is looking to be Orbeetle, Heracross, Ribombee, Scolipede, Volcarona (already had Isle of Armor/Crown Tundra DLC, so why not), and Vikavolt, with Frosmoth, Drapion and Flygon as alternates (the latter two are in the Bug egg group, and look the part, so I made a concession for them. And Flygon has been a favorite since Emerald). Was hoping to add a Scizor to that lineup, but Weather Spawns have been very fickle.

I did do an electric type only run in firered a few years ago I cannot remember alot of it outside of patiently waiting until i beat koga just so I could complete my team and get my 1 team member that wasn't pure electric. I will also mention that you can get a voltorb in the route right before rock tunnel (route 10) in every kanto game except Yellow for some reason. So at least you don't just have a Pikachu from the start to Celadon city.
@emperorcubone3 ай бұрын

@@emperorcubone would had been better if voltorb was earlier though like north of either cerulean or vermilion to have another electric type option in the early game as going to cerulean meant that if you didn't get Pikachu back in viridian forest you wouldn't be able to for a while.
