11:39 Fun fact. In Gen 1, out of all the types Grass/Psychic was weak to, Ice was the only common one in competitive. However, water, psychic, and ground were all very common types. This made grass psychic an amazing type in Gen 1, and is part of the reason why Exeggutor is one of the best pokémon in the game there.

I’d like to give a shoutout to rock grass. It’s a combo that should be awful on paper but they surprisingly cover each other well! Between offense and defense, every grass weakness is covered by rock (resists poison, super effective on fire, ice, bug, and flying) and grass covers rocks weaknesses to water, ground, and grass! Not bad at all!

also you can use entertainment shenagins to put wondergaurd on a pure fire type and then have the fire type use burn up to become type less at that point only indirect damage from status, entry hazards, rocky helmet, recoil, life orb, or weather can hurt it. you could also use perish song or destiny bond aswell.

As a veteran pokemon player who can tell you basically everything there's is about pokemon and who has started playing since RSE was released. I recently found out that rock isn't weak to ice type. It is the Rock/Ground types to blame

Honestly I would like to see how poison steel would be as a typing. Things that poison steel hits super effectively are fairy, grass, ice and rock Things that poison steel resists are: Normal, grass, fairy (X4 resist), poison (immune), ice, flying, rock, steel, dragon and bug (4x resists). Also if we count the steel pre nerf posion steel would also resist dark and ghost. Things that can hit poison steel super effectively: Fire, Ground (4× weakness). Poison steel would be immune to sandstorm, resists stealth rock and soak up Toxic spikes. Notable moves include: Toxic spikes Spikes Stealth rock 100 percent accurate toxic Gyro ball Gunk shot Body press Iron defense. Honestly I think it would be one of the best dual typing available. Also an idea for a Pokémon that could have this typing is to have a regional form of Trubbish and Garbodor where they using rubbish/recycling bins as armor.

I wish there was a poison-dark type with levitate the only other types with no weakness are sableye gen 3-5 but its stats suck!(but its great to have when you get it in pokemon ruby sapphire and emerald because brawly can't hurt you.)and then pokemon like probopass have decent stats but require to use magnet rise on the first turn, then you have no weaknesses but my favorite electric types are magnezone and dedenne who can learn it but have other types so still have weaknesses.

The other thing with ice and flying offensively, is that most pokemon are either decent special attackers or physical attackers but not both. However, most ice moves tend to be special and most flying moves physical, meaning that on creating such a pokemon, a good portion of your potential move pool isn't as useful as you'd like. And the opposite is true for the bug/steel combination, both having strong physical attacks so a bug/steel type with a good attack stat can be a force to be reckoned with.

So in these specific cases the water ground types don’t do much to these very common Pokémon

Just gonna say, Grass/Psychic was absolutely nuts in early generations. Exeggcutor and Celebi were format defining until physical special split in gen4, which also brought u-turn as one of the most common utility moves.

I think he only highlighted the defensive effect of the combined typings for ice and psychic. Ice is also effective against grass in offense.

@@bruskydu I still don't get why ice is so worthless defensively, it's basically only used to kill dragons, but is weak to the flamethrower that is more or less universal, it's just sad, at least let it resist grass!

@@The_Murder_Party ice is an incredibly good offensive type, its only resisted by steel which like everything is resisted by it so whatever and by ice but ice is garbage defensively anyways so thats not a big deal either. Being strong against ground, dragon and flying is really good because of the amount of pokemon that have two of those is pretty high and ground and dragon is a pretty good type in general. Also bolt-beam is a thing for a reason

I couldn’t agree more, I don’t often get worried about fighting any Pokémon due to type matchups but I learned very early on that Gastrodon, Swampert, and even Quagsire are super difficult to prepare for

Commenting before I watch. Off the top of my head a good one would be Fairy/Steel, and an awful one would be Grass/Psychic or Bug. We'll see how I fair at the end. Edit: Nice.

Electric/Steel is easily my favorite type combo. It has the most resistances in the whole game, and yes there is that 4x Ground weakness, but that’s what magnet rise is for. I really hope we see another addition to the group, maybe even one with Levitate to really take advantage of that defensive profile.

id like to give a shoutout to empoleon's typing of steel/water it resists 3 of the 'best' offensive types in the game (4x resist to ice and resist fairy and dragon) while also being able to resist steel types to hit back with powerful stab water moves plus, when it was released it had a whopping 2 neutrals and 3 super effectives with 12 resists granted the fact that it's weak to fighting, ground and electric do push it down a bit as they are all powerful typings

It still is an amazing type when combined with other types. Psychic Steel is great defensively, Psychic Fairy is excellent offensively, especially with Mega Gardevoir backing it up, just to name a few examples

Surprised Water/Dragon wasn't on the list. It's only weaknesses are Dragon and Fairy, and the majority of types that resist one of them is at least neutral to the other, not to mention it's been used to good effect on a few Pokémon, such as Kingdra and Palkia.

You can pick up a Magnemite super early in Sun/Moon. I normally do, and that's the only mon (apart from the starter) that does not get swapped out until the end

Although Jynx and Mr Rime can only resist Psychic and Ice hits well, on the offensive side, they can hit Grass, Ground, Flying, Dragon, Fighting, Poison AND Water with STAB, water only if using the move Freeze-Dry, which is best ice special move for Mr. Rime.. Thats almost half of all the typings!!!

It Only has one weakness and that’s a two times weakness To grass But sense you can have a cover Pokémon in duel battles it does really well And I use sesmitoad with water asorb so he has 2 immunities and a resistance to fire rock and steel
