How was the Spearow for Hawlucha trade not on the list? It’s like the Spearow for Farfetch’d trade early on, but better in every way. Hawlucha is a really good Pokémon all round, amazing attack, Roost early on, access to Karate Chop and Brick Break right off the bat (one on the Pokemon when it’s traded, the other you get from the trial) _and_ it destroys early game. The first trial is Normal, weak to its STAB Brick Break (especially Alolan Raticate) and the Grand Trial shortly after is weak to Hawlucha’s STAB Wing Attack from its great attack stat, plus Sharp Beak can be obtained easily to give it a bit of an extra kick. Best part of this is that you get Spearow on the same route of this trade, and Hawlucha is only available on the next route. So you essentially get early access to one of the best Pokemon for a playthrough for the low cost of a measly Spearow. I’d argue this should be high on the list, the only reason why I can imagine not to be on the list is because most of the others you can’t get at all (at least without trading), but it feels like the early access should count for something.
@king_alloy3 жыл бұрын
Was looking for it too! When I found this trade, I immediately realized that it gets through normal, fighting, grass and even water trial because the totem is an Araquanid, after fire, rock, then electric since it's Togedemaru, then after ghost it gets dark and is immune to ground. That's like 1/3 of the key fights in the game that it will just break.
@PansyPops3 жыл бұрын
@@king_alloy don’t forget the Elite 4. It beats Molayne’s Bisharp, Magnezone, Alolan Dugtrio and maybe Metagross (if you give it a dark move like Night Slash). It’s strong against Olivia’s entire team with fighting moves alone, with the exception of Armaldo. Same applies to Acerola’s ghost line up you keep Night Slash on it, leaving Kahili. You’re weak against Kahili’s entire team, so just forget about this trial. Finally, the champion. If you chose Primarina, you have a super effective move against 4 of his team! You can spam fighting/flying moves against his Leafeon, Tauros, Crabominable and Incineroar, to take out the bulk of his team. Against his Raichu, you can use Night Slash once more to take out 5 of his team! Nearly an entire Champion gone, just from a single Pokemon. Really makes you stop and think about how easy this E4 is, or how (slightly) inaccurate this list is.

I have never thought of the GTS method because I've usually just had another 3ds around I could use, but that's a cool idea
@emperorcubone3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it was pretty difficult; I'd always offer up ludicrous requests like a Pumpkaboo for a Lugia so nobody would do it except for me. But I did get a free Cobalion once from someone actually taking the offer...

Getting traded a Haunter only for it to be holding an Everstone has to be the most diabolical troll I've ever seen a developer pull.

Honestly fossil trades would be pretty great! You can usually only get one so if you breed another and then trade (probably in the postgame) although I guess that's what the GTS is for...

Another bad one is a Skwovet for a Bunnelby in Sword and Shield (HONESTLY WHATS THE POINT???????). You can literally find both in the Wild Area (Bunnelby is so abundant there). Then again, another good trade is the Vanillish for Throh (In Sword) and Sawk (In Shield), since they are version exclusives (So basically you can get the opposite one in your version) and you can find Vanillish right before on Route 8.
@sharblast3 жыл бұрын
There is a small benefit since the traded Pokémon will gain exp faster, although that particular Skwovet is guaranteed to have a mild nature which is bad for it.

Doesn’t the magikarp trade have perfect IVs though? I’d say it’s worth it if that’s the case

Yes. And an adamant nature. Aka the best competitive nature for a Gyarados.

One that was so great for me was Drowzee for Machop in HGSS. I watched the anime as a kid & didn’t play the games until I got myself a copy of SoulSilver. My friend told me about that trade & advised I catch a female Drowzee because the Machop I would get in return would be female. Reason why this is important is because you can do this trade before Whitney’s gym, I wiped the floor with that Machop my first time fighting Whitney.

Ithink the Kadabra for graveler might be the one that was changed to Raichu in the English and that’s why he says it evolved.

This list is driving me wild. This fairness for evolution stages just doesn’t matter if a no-evolution Pokémon is just better. And, Onix is one of the worst Pokémon of all time.
@nintendolife253 жыл бұрын
Another unique and awesome list, my friend! A little bit of a fun fact with that Bellsprout for Onix trade, I do agree with it but ironically, Bellsprout hits harder than Onix! Only by 5 Base Attack points but….how does a flower hit harder than a rock snake? Plus, some of these bad trades makes you wonder what’s the point of it. Gyarados for a Magikarp? Unless it’s a shiny, I can’t see why anyone would agree to go back to square one.
@emperorcubone3 жыл бұрын
Well the Magikarp has some good EVs or something if you care about that. But I would say to stick with Bellsprout if there wasn't a Flying and Bug type gym to worry about where it's useless...

I took a moment to look up the Magikarp trade, it's not as bad as it looks. It has an adamant nature. Also what's wrong with paying for a Magikarp? Just let it soak up EXP until level 20 and you have one of the strongest non-legendary Pokemon in the game before 2nd or 3rd gym depending on the game. No matter how you slice it, it's an amazing deal. Sure you can fish one up, but not until later. Gives you a headstart.

The only thing I don’t like about in game trades is that the Pokemon you get ALWAYS Have Nicknames and as a player who has never nicknamed a single Pokemon it’s a real tough pill to swallow to try and then use said Pokemon

late response, but in hgss, they shouldve had the rhydon hold a protector, no matter your thoughts on rhyperior, its still a trade evolution and being able to use one, and get it WITHOUT trading would be worth a psuedo middle stage imo

As much as possible, I avoid NPC trades that I can find in the wild, unless it's the only way to get it. Tje one that I found the most annoying is that trainer in Hoenn that gives a Seedot or Lotad (depend on the version) in return for a Ralts. Both are equally hard to find and most of the time I get my Ralts, I also get a Seedot or Lotad beforehand.

The Corsola trade in the Ruby and Sapphire remakes is a bit easier thanks to Pick-Up ability being able get you infinite Sun Stones. Although it still is a bad trade get ride of a Bellossom for it. Just put Zigzagoon or Linoone in your team and let level up with EXP Share so it can get to level 31+ so it can start Pick Up Sun Stones.
