I'm British, and I've literally never watched Nascar before i started getting loads of Nascar videos turning up in my Recommended Videos (this being one of them), and I've already decided that Matt Kenseth is absolutely my favourite driver of all time, just because in this 5 minute video, EmpLemon made me hate Logano so much that I've just got to root for him (even though he's retired)
@thetayz72

I feel bad for Matt Kenseth. It took a lot of emotional maturity, fortitude, and humility to maintain composure, avoid drama, and to just focus on being his best self. Humility is often mistaken for weakness, but his casual revenge on Logano proved he's no doormat. Respect. Sorry you had to race with so many douchebags, Matt. You're definitely the better man.

Matt Kenseth took the brunt of the force from every altercation in his career, he was arguably the most level-headed, even-tempered driver on the track, and after all of it, that one move by Joey Logano, that one unnecessary setback, awakened the wrath of the most calm driver. Also, I feel like I should note that the transition element of Denny Hamlin's FedEx 11 moving on screen when you said that the intensity of racing at Martinsville is dialed to 11 was very clever symmetry between the script and the visuals.

@dark2023-1lovesoni 5 ай бұрын
In truth, this is a very old-school repair technique that appeals to the "spirit of the machine" or "Anima ex Machina" in engineering terminology. They're punishing the vehicle in the hope that it encourages it to function more favorably in the future. A type of Pavlovian negative reinforcement. This is the same reason that 'percussive maintenance' works sometimes. If the machine spirit it scared of failure, or further punishment, then it will do whatever is possible to prevent such situations again. Think of it as a type of machine learning. (/s (not spam, I'm just proud of this "explanation)).

Its still devastating to this very day that after Jeff Gordon won his 93rd and final win at Martinsville in 2015 many of us thought he would have a fairytale ending career winning the championship at Homestead for the ages to look back on but sadly we were robbed... it still gets me because I rooted for Gordon that day... sure I wanted Truex and Harvick but I picked Jeff to win his 5th championship because he had more experience but when Kyle Busch won the championship I was devastated like everyone else...

It’s amazing how people like Emplemon can take such a seemingly niche topic such as NASCAR or high jumps and turn them into half hour long entertaining and thought-proving videos for the masses. Sure, there may be hundreds of people on KZbin with much larger audiences. But regardless, Emplemon will forever be one of the greatest of all time. A "where are they now?" for the drivers involved: Tony Stewart: Tony would go on to race until 2016 when he would retire. He races local dirt races and began his own racing series, the SRX, which was a relative success this past summer. He is the co-owner of championship-winning team Stewart-Haas Racing, which won the 4th race of the season at Phoenix. In 2022 he was a guest analyst for NASCAR on Fox the LA Clash and Daytona 500. In 2014 Tony Stewart was competing in a dirt race in upstate New York. Stewart bumped into a driver named Kevin Ward Jr., causing him to wreck and the caution to come out. Ward, displeased, exited his car and went into the way of traffic to show his displeasure with Stewart. Ward was hit and died. (I would recommend you read into this if you're interested, as the situation is very complex and I want to keep this at least somewhat brief.) Brian Vickers: Vickers would retire from full-time competition in 2012 due to blood clotting issues. He would go part-time for a few years, scoring a win at New Hampshire in 2013. He would marry a woman named Sarah Kellen. Kellen, under the alias Sarah Kensington, was one of Jeffery Epstein's "recruiters" who was heavily involved in trafficking and "coaching" young minors. She is under investigation by the FBI. Robby Gordon: Robby would leave NASCAR in the early 2010s, creating his own racing series, Stadium Supertrucks Michael Waltrip: Michael Waltrip's team would shut down in 2015 due to his team controversially spinning out to affect the "Chase." He currently works as an analyst for NASCAR on Fox and is a commentator for FS1's coverage of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Kurt Busch: Kurt Busch would win the 2004 Nextel Cup Series championship. He would jump teams every few years due to controversies, until getting to Stewart-Haas racing. He would win the Daytona 500 in 2017 and go to Chip Ganassi Racing in 2019. In 2021 his postseason started abysmally and was eliminated in the first round. He finished 11th in the standings for the final season of Chip Ganassi Racing's NASCAR team. In 2021 he was signed to drive for Michael Jordan's team, 23XI alongside Bubba Wallace for 2022. In the 2022 Daytona 500 Kurt found himself consistently around the trouble, but usually able to evade it unscathed. In a rough season Kurt found himself in trouble and taking hard hits all year. Despite this he won the 13th round at Kansas to lock himself into the playoffs. During qualifying at Pocono Kurt spun out exiting turn 3 onto the front stretch and suffered a concussion following the hit. Kurt Busch withdrew from the playoffs due to injury. On October 15th, he announced he would retire from full time racing. Jimmy Spencer: Spencer would leave the Speed Channel in 2013 and disappear from public life until July of 2021 when he appeared on Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s podcast, The Dale Jr. Download. Kyle Busch: Kyle Busch is currently a 2-time NASCAR champion, winning the 2015 and 2019 championships. He has taken the record for most wins in all 3 NASCAR series having a combined 215 wins in all 3 series. In 2021 he ran a solid season despite his 2020 slump, finishing 9th in points and nearly advancing to the final round after a chaotic cutoff race at Martinsville. In the 2022 Daytona 500 he scored a 6th place finish after recovering from a hard crash early. With 1 race to go he sits 14th on the playoff grid after one of the most spontaneous season collapses in history. In a contract year, M&M's announced they would be leaving NASCAR and Kyle Busch. Leaving him without a sponsor and too high of an asking price Kyle Busch has found himself out at Joe Gibbs Racing for 2023. Kyle Busch will drive for Dale Earnhardt Sr's former team, Richard Childress Racing driving noneother than Dale Jr's old number the 8. In an abysmal send-off at JGR he finished 13th, his worst points finish since missing the Chase in 2012. Dale Earnhardt Jr.: Dale Jr. would retire in 2017 due to concussions. In 2018 he became an NBC commentator. He is a car owner in the lower NASCAR series, owning Jr. Motorsports. He also runs a podcast, the Dale Jr. Download. Denny Hamlin: Denny Hamlin created his own team alongside Michael Jordan, 23XI in 2021 with driver Bubba Wallace. In 2021 he only had 2 wins but was radically consistent throughout the whole season leading the points for 24 weeks straight. He finished 3rd in the standings. In 2022 he failed to finish the Daytona 500 after being caught in a wreck. Hamlin had an abysmal start to the season. Despite this, he won the 6th round at Richmond after a late pit call. This had been the only bright spot of an otherwise abysmal year where he can't seem to catch a break. At the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte he would win a second race. In the weeks that followed Hamlin would begin a feud with driver Ross Chastain, who has wrecked Hamlin several times. At Pocono, Hamlin doored Chastain, sending him into the wall. Hamlin won this race, but was disqualified for an illegal piece of tape on the front-end of the car, the win instead being awarded to Chase Elliott, who finished 3rd. Despite an amazing playoff run he was eliminated in the round of 8 by 2 points after Chastain pulled a "video game" move at Martinsville. Chase Elliott: Chase Elliott would go on to win the 2020 Cup Series championship. He had 2 wins and finished 4th in the 2021 standings. He has become a driver with a reputation for his skill in road courses. In the Daytona 500, Elliott stayed quiet but finished a solid 10th following a chaotic finish. He lead the points and won the regular season. During the championship race at Phoenix, Elliott was wrecked by Chastain, leading him to finish 4th, last of the final 4. Jeff Gordon: Jeff Gordon would retire after the 2015 season. He became a NASCAR on Fox commentator. This year he announced he would leave Fox to take an administrative role at Hendrick Motorsports, his old team. Clint Bowyer: Bowyer retired after the 2020 season and became a NASCAR on Fox commentator alongside none other than Jeff Gordon. He was involved in an incident immediately following the race at Kansas Speedway where he struck someone who walked into the road. It is reported this person was high, and Bowyer had no drugs in his system. Matt Kenseth: Kenseth retired in 2017 from Joe Gibbs Racing. The next year he would return as a fill-in driver for Roush Racing, his original team. In 2020 after the controversy caused driver Kyle Larson to be suspended for the season Kenseth would fill in for the rest of the season. He has stated that will be his final ride, but some do not believe that. He races local late model races in Wisconsin. In 2022 Matt was a guest analyst at Auto Club Speedway's race, and phoned up Joey Logano from the booth during the race, acknowledging the old animosity. Joey Logano: Joey Logano went on to win the 2018 Cup Series Championship in a massive upset over Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr., and Kevin Harvick. In 2021 he won only one race in a fluke at the Bristol Dirt Race, having many rough wrecks including his car flipping over at Talladega. He made a deep postseason run despite this and finished 8th in the standings. In 2022 he won the Busch Light Clash at the LA Coliseum but failed to finish the Daytona 500 following a wreck. After Darlington he broke a 40 race winless streak by slamming William Byron into the wall with 2 to go, outraging fans yet again. He backed this up with a clean win against Kyle Busch at Gateway. Logano cruised to the final 4 in an exciting finish at Vegas, and won the championship with his 4th win of the season at Phoenix to become a 2x champion. In championship media week, Logano was asked about his run-in with Matt Kenseth, saying that while he was pissed because that was his championship to win, as he saw it, he ruined it because he didn't think, and wrecking Matt served him no purpose. EDIT: Updated post-2022 season. Updating every few weeks as the 2022 season continues.

As a member of the NASCAR fan community, the storylines and drama of the sport is a huge reason why I watch the races every week. The trucks, Xfinity and Cup series all have drivers you love to love and love to hate. Wins for your guy are so much rarer than seeing your typical sports team win, and the payoff of rooting for a driver for years to see them succeed is unlike any other fan community I've been apart of.
