I am not following, just funny you asked about a name when yours isnt exactly western, in fact some sounds quite Indian in origin then again Venizelos is greek. so you cant diss someones name when your is a mixture of made up ones.

Baji Scipio Dārayav Aurelius Julian Venizelos Nalwa well you wrote greatest which sort of means you think he was very good, and most of these emperors were totally ruthless, incestuous and very very cruel.

His campaigns in the East were impressive! Though it took him twice to deal with Palmyra. Is he the Emperor that ended Palmyra by razing it to the ground?

Yep. The First Time they rebelled he killed only the dogs, but the second time he was furious.

Aurelian/Trajan/Constantine/Augustus Woe to the conquered Rome. Great men, but Aurelius was the only good man
@OkurkaBinLadin3 жыл бұрын
How would you know? Aurelius is the one, who left us his literary work, does that imply, that men, who dont write are not "good"? Hadrian all but outlawed slavery. While Aurelius gave 50 million inhabitants of empire hope for better future in the time darkness.

@@OkurkaBinLadin Hadrian tried to force Jerusalem to build a temple to Jupiter and when they declined, he killed over 500 thousand Jews, crucified their leaders, and sent a majority of the Jews not killed into slavery. Ravaged 50 cities and hundreds of villages, and plundered artifacts from their temples. He then barred Jews from living in their homeland and renamed Jerusalem to Aelia Capitolina. Jews were required to pay a Jewish tax to practice their religion.

@@gutar5675 You do have to remember they were uprising on a near yearly basis, and thanks to Hadrian the province of Palistina never rebelled again (briefly conquered by Zenobia, but not rebelled). Not only that, but Hadrian also built up the empire extremely well. Going across the entire empire and performing construction works everywhere he went. Besides, no homeland is truly a homeland, the canaanites were there years before the Israelites or jews.

The Roman State became more oppressive under him. He stripped away the few powers the Roman Senate still had. He enacted various 'nanny state' policies that would drive Rome to near bankruptcy. His reforms may have done more harm than good.
@misanthropicservitorofmars21164 жыл бұрын
His useless predecessors had already ruined the economy. The senate was beyond corrupted and used for greedy plebs to live an easy life. You can argue that it all should have collapsed. But Aurelian spent his life saving Rome, allowing it to exist for just a little while longer. Everyday I smile, happy for every year Rome continued on.
@johnirish29694 жыл бұрын
@@misanthropicservitorofmars2116 the economy was super fucked. All anyone had to do to defeat Rome was seize Egypt and cut the food shipments. And the corruption of the praetorian guard is sickening, killing so many potentially great emperors for nothing but money. That being said, did Dovahhatty send you here?

What "nanny state" policies did Aurelian enact? The closest I can think of was setting fixed prices for a handful of items in a time when the food supply from Egypt risked being cut off. Otherwise, he did much to save the economy, including suppressing corrupt mint workers who rebelled (yes, really!) and increasing the precious metals in the coinage.
@Nonamearisto4 жыл бұрын
@@misanthropicservitorofmars2116 By a "little while", you mean 200 years in the west and almost 1200 years (!) in the east.
