When we raise the water temp from 170 to 190 degrees we increase the cleaning power of the chemestry 20 times... then by adding a Hoss 700 or RX-20 we up the cleaning power and effectivness even more. Cleaning above 190 is entering a danger zone where to much of a good thing can be problematic for the carpet. Also everyone should carbon filter all city water to remove chlorine on colored carpets... Vaccum is a composition of air volume, air pressure and horsepower. Vaccum power combined with water tempurature and chemestry is the essence of carpet cleaning. Buy as much vaccum power as you can afford and just keep moving up power as you progress. When I moved up from 20 hp truckmounts to 95 a hp truckmount my hourly income went up 40% and my labor costs went down 25 %. My fuel costs doubled. Finally buy the best looking uniforms you can afford and just keep moving up. Make sure you have an american flag patch on your shoulder. It's easier for people to pay a uniformed profesional more money than an ununiformed profesional.

I strongly disagree re residential carpets.... truck mount only is following others. We extract only where needed. There is a mix up between restoration and maintenance. Here in Queensland Australia there is no snow for example. In theuk yes it snows plus rains like crazy. The style has to be different. Here only bedroom's have carpets and pets are as a rule no go area for them. Therefore restoration clean is not necessary.
