EotV is one of my fave ever books.. love the lore, world building, plot and characters... so, so good. I felt the same way about EotD, it didn't quite reach the heights of the first one, but still some cool things happened. Very much looking forward to the 3rd book, love this series so much.

I’ve been waiting for this review ever since the Vampire video series earlier this year! I think Kristoff style likely wouldn’t work for me, but I suppose it’s worth a shot sometime!

This is one of my favorite fantasy series I've read in the past couple years! I didn't enjoy Kristoff's previous series that much. This series seems to take all the good parts of previous series while removing most of the bad. I enjoyed the banter, world building, and pacing. I read half on kindle and listened to half on audible, highly suggest both. Agreed, Book One > Book Two.

I am currently writing a Vampire novel of my own that has a lot of world and lore-building, and I am hoping people who like the Jay Kristoff books would like the one that I'm writing. I was inspired by Vampire Hunter D, Mad Max, HP Lovecraft, and the Necroscope Series by Brian Lumley. Where my story is set in a far-off post-apocalyptic future that centers around a group of Vampire Hunters who hunt Vampires for money. Unlike most Vampire fiction, my Vampires are not romantic, they are evil, visceral, and deeply disturbing in how they victimize their human prey. Brian Lumley's vampires from his Necroscope series were the main inspiration. His Vampires are the scariest ever in literature. There is no romantic story in what I am writing, but there are philosophical and deep discussions about faith and a belief in the divine. The goal for me is to combine gothic horror with cosmic horror and eschatological apocalyptic horror found in religion when talking about the end of days. I hope fans of Vampire fiction will enjoy this experimental piece of work.
