It's great against the AI, but bad in multiplayer because you take so much extra damage from stray shots.

I use the line of rifleman and bulkeleys batalion(in multiplayer) but I think dragoons are better when they're used as mobile firepower shooting enemi cavalry or line infantry(you can shoot line infantry in back).
