Employing artillery in DCS World using Combined Arms and the KA-50

A quick video showing how to employ artillery using the DSC Combined Arms module.
I should also mention you don’t HAVE to type the lat long in as described but can simply click on the map and move the target around to match the grid displayed on F10.

I experimented with A10C spotting targets and then artillery attacks. Specifically, fly A10CII over the target area, circling. Mark targets using TGP and read the MGRS coordinates from the CDU. 12 self-propelled artillery firing 50 rounds was quite a show. However, the artilleries stopped following orders after two barrages. Though each artillery still had leftover rounds. I hope ED will improve the artillery control surface to make the battle experience more diverse. Artillery is really fun!!!

Combined Arms is really underrated by a lot of the DCS community. There's a lot you can do with it to make the DCS a little closer to reality. For anyone that hasn't tried it yet I recommend getting in one of the units with the ability to smoke and laze to act as a JTAC. It's a much more satisfying experience than dropping PGMs on static ground units sitting in an open field. Thanks for sharing your insight on using CA with artillery.

Requesting artillery strikes is very useful against infantry squads in the Liberation Campaign. Having a ton of fun with the Gazelle (spotter) and an Apache wingman (another helicopter group set to follow me and order it via combined arms)

Kiowa will give you a laser grid which is more accurate. Won’t be able to type that in but you can move the target around and match the grid on F10. Join the discord if you haven’t and we can discuss. Thanks for watching!

Can the artillery use laser guided munitions that your aircraft can target with it's laser?

I don’t believe there is any ammo type selection. Normally laser guided arty is rare anyhow. Would be a great addition to the game tho and probably easy to do... thanks for watching!

They really need some kind of AI tactical comander. Maybe they could run it as a plugin, so.it could utilize a different core. It would be awesome to have the Ai doing this. And you being able to do it through the aircraft radios, cockpit visual recon mode, and the aircraft sensors. It would completely change the ground game

Might increase accuracy if you convert the coordinates back to DMS. The PVI-800's coordinates system is DMD. It won't be more accurate by much though, since it only goes down to one decimal.

Honestly I will never use the LAT LONG. I’m much better at just analyzing the terrain and comparing it to the map. I know there are some other ways with the KA-50 but I kinda went with the Easy one and adjusted from there. Thanks for watching!
